View Full Version : No bath in the house, what else can I do?
Our son has grown out of his baby bath, we don't have a bath in the house (two bathrooms and no bath's only showers) what else can we use? Laundry basin is to small, the sink is to small. He just loves his baths so I need to find something that will work for the both of us. He is still getting the hang of sitting up for longer periods, but tends to slump forward and to the side still. All ideas will be great ideas.
Many thanks

We are on rain water so to save I bath my son in a huge storage container. He thinks it great.

We also were bathless for about a year. At first I just put the baby bath into the shower stall. DD was too big to lie down but she'd sit in it with my help and I'd just lean her back to rinse her hair. A non-slip bath mat cut to fit into the baby bath helps keep bub steady.
Eventually when she was crawling and sitting I'd just put her in shower with me. Holding her was tough, too slippery! but she'd happily sit on the floor of the shower with her duck. I would turn the shower spray so it wasn't on her and just wash her with a cloth or sponge. Only problem is they're more likely to get cold.

After our DS outgrew his baby bath which happened pretty quickly (big boy that he is!) we would just take him in the shower with us. Re: the slippery factor either DH or myself would be in the shower already and one of us would pass DS to the one in the shower, the person outside would lather bub up and wash him down until he was big enough to grip on. DS loved it so much he refused baths for along time after that, we had to get in the bath with him to convince him it was ok LOL :)
hi
i had a simialr problem with my 2nd ds .i didnt have a bath and couldnt be bothered with a baby bath so ds has showers with me ,when he was under 6months he would just rest in my arms while i washed his little body then my dh would take him so i could wash me :p
then as he got bigger he was happy to sit at my feet and play while i showered and then washed him .ad now he is 14 months he potters around in the shower playing with containers and being cute . when we go to my mums and give him a wash in the bath he crys his heart out he hates baths now
i can safely say he has had maybe 10 propper baths in his 14months and that includes hospital baths .
im also a fan of the "Pommy" bath a bowl of warm water and a face cloth wash all the major bits and smell your superfresh baby .goodluck and enjoy your bub :D

I reckon the big storage container sounds the easiest!! Haven't had this problem myself, just read the thread and thought i'd add my two bobs worth! Good luck!

What if you got, what used to be called a wetty tub (wetsuit tub), but now they seem to sell them everywhere, and in all different shapes. They are like a big rubber tub, sturdy, but soft at the same time, not hard plastic. I've seen shallow ones as well. Would easily fit on the floor of a shower. Places like big w etc would sell them. Or a storage shop?
We just shower with our bub all the time. My hubby stands in the shower holding the bub (when she was a newborn), when all clean, he handed her to me and I dried and dressed her,. No Problem.
She loves the shower and now she is older (9mths) will happily sit playing in the bottom of the shower with her older sister (we sit at the door of the shower).
This thread is from 2005! :p

Or this (http://www.bubs.com.au/_products/Bathtime+Bubs/Baths/FLEXI+BATH+GREEN-52-63083-.aspx) - so handy and it has a plug so you don't have to break your back tipping water out.
