What do you lovely ladies do about transferring your uk pension over to Australia. My DH and I have both worked in the UK (my dh is from London and I worked over there temporarily). I've heard it's quite difficult but obviously want to do it if we can. Thanks in advance.

BTW - have been reading some of your posts/threads about wanting to move back to the UK. My parents are English and moved over here just before I was born - and even though I was born here I will always feel an attachment to the UK - and there is a small part of me that would consider going over if dh decides he really wants to.

We havent bothered as there was too little in them to worry about (about £2,000 each) so we just froze the accounts and can draw on them when the time comes.

I think you can do it yourself, but it needs some looking into as I think the UK brought in some rule about you can only transfer it to approved pensions and as far as I'm aware no Aus ones were on the list! Just a way of that greedy git Brown keeping his paws on your cash!

Hope that is some help :)

I moved my pension from the NHS pension in the UK to Unisuper in Oz. I contacted Unisuper and they gave me a form to fill in which I sent back to them and then they sorted it all out for me. Not too difficult. I think, however, that there is a small bit still left in the NHS pension as you can't shut it down completely.
So, I suggest asking the pension fund here what they can do for you.
