Dd is 3 months old.. She is 15 weeks but was 6 weeks early..
She won't lift her head. Ever.
When I put her on her belly I try an make her lift her head by talking to her but all she does is suck her hands and goes to sleep.
I have put a rolled up blanket under her chest and still she won't lift it she just goes to sleep..
Any tips I don't want her falling behind.

Don't they back date early babies? So of she was 6 weeks early they back date her to that so essentially they aren't behind. They do catch up though.
All I can suggest is tummy time after every feed and to lay in front of her and talk to her. Hth

Can you try it just after she wakes? She's appears too tired to be interested. If she wants to sleep, I would let her. But I think you are doing the right thing by encouraging tummy time. Don't stress if she isn't lifting her head yet. My daughter didn't do much of anything until she was 5 months and a month later she was crawling.

She will do it when she is ready, you can't make her do it :)

Agreed!
Tummy time on your chest might help encourage as well, so she's lifting her head to look at mum. That's what helps my ds, I lay on the bed or floor next to him and he tries to prop himself up to look at me.
3 months esp with an early bub is still fairly early for this though, isn't it?

On the plus side - at least you know how to get her to sleep! If only it was that easy with my bubba!!

Yep, if she is 15 weeks now, but 6 weeks early, her corrected age would be 9 weeks, so only just gone 2 months. store still quite early and nothing to be concerned about at this stage.

I used to lay DD1 on her tummy along my forearm (pressed up against my body) with my hand under her chest so she was facing the floor and carry her around like that for a few minutes just to get her used to holding her head up. Also you could lay her across your lap when you are sitting down and that will give her a chance to lift her head up.
DD1 used to scream and scream if I put her on her tummy on the floor and I was worried too so that's why I started carrying her face down occasionally. She's 2.5 y/o now and is in no way delayed (she's uncoordinated when she dances but then so am I).

Awesome thanks. I cant remember from the other kids corrected ages when they should start
I used to lie DS on his tummy on the floor over a round up towel with a book placed in front of him and then I would lie next to him and read. He used to really enjoy it and as his head and neck got stronger he would look at the book and me reading it. We had three premies in my mother's group of 11 and I had gotten that tip of one of the premies mum.

I had DS at the same time SIL had her first. My nephew has down syndrome and as an infant had some problems with holding his head up. My SIL did physio with him from birth and when I started having some issues with DS holding up his head she showed me some great physio stuff.
1. Lay bub on their tummy and firmly stroke down their spine - they will often raise their head due to the spinal stimulation.
2. Purchase a fisher price 'Poppity Pop Car' - lay bub on their tummy and very slowly drive the car around their head and shoulders - right to left/left to right bub will lift her head and turn it to follow the noise of the car. Be warned this exercise is exhausting and should only be done for a few minutes once a day to start with and gradually build it up to a level but is happy with.
Both of these neck physio techniques worked really well for DS. If you are really concerned see your pead who may refer you to a physio.

I used to put the thick foam changemat right on the diningroom table when DS had a bath. When he finished his bath, I put him on his tummy for a bit of a massage. After a few minutes he got tired of the massage and started to protest by lifting his head up and turning it towards me and cry. Indicating that he had had enough.

Just lots of tummy time really, they do it in their own time. T wasn't really interested in lifting her head up until 16 weeks or so, and she was a week over - so you've still got heaps of time, don't stress.
