My DD is 4 months old tomorrow. She has recently started refusing to go to bed at bedtime. We follow the same bedtime routine we always have - bath between 6 and 7 depending on her last sleep, storytime, into her wrap and on the boob where she generally feeds to sleep. She just refuses to feed or sleep, starts screaming if I put her in her wrap. She will generally give in around 8-9pm and feed to sleep as normal.

I tried moving her last afternoon nap forward, but it just resulted in an overtired baby. Tried adding an extra nap and also moving her last nap later, also no luck. I even tried transitioning to a grobag instead of swaddling, but she isn't ready.

DH gives her her bath, he can be a little bit enthusiastic and excitable sometimes. I usually try to keep things quiet for the hour before bathtime, but he doesn't always cooperate. It doesn't seem to make much difference though.

Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a phase, or am I doing something wrong?

4 months yeeeeeeeeh very common :-) it will pass, just keep your normal routine. Was our biggest and longest 'wonder week'!!!! It's rad.

I found I needed to sit and pat and sing and stay with her to settle her to sleep for a while. I am very determined and persistent so I normally won. Not always though.. He he.. Then I'd just get her up and try again in 20mins til I did win.

Hang in there and be patient with her, her brain and world is growing and it's very scary
