So yes, we all know that easter eggs have been out since just after Christmas :freakingout:

So what do you guys do for Easter, and you buy your children gifts?

It's a bit later this year I think too?!

This is my DD's first Easter :) normally we have an Easter lunch with the inlaws, sometimes do an Easter egg hunt. I'm anticipating that all of them will be telling me I'm a b!tch for not letting my DD who will be 10 months eat chocolate, but too bad she's not getting any! I would love to start an Easter tradition for DH,DD and I that we cam continue, maybe an Easter picnic?

Also does anyone have any ideas for nice Easter gifts? I've done noodle boxes filled with chocolates for a few years now would love a new idea!

And hot cross buns came out on new years!! :O

Well last year was our first Easter with child and this year we have 2.
We hide some Easter eggs around the house and DD trots around with her little Easter basket and finds the eggs (in obvious places like the couch and on the floor right infront of her lol). We give a small present also. We then have googie eggs and soldier bread for breakfast! Yum! In terms of family lunches etc I can't actually remember what we do? Oh that's right, fit in 3 families in 1 day that (in)conveniently live on opposite sides of Brisbane :D oh the joys

We don't "do" Easter Bunny or the mass consumption of chocolate.

We usually just give the children 1 choc bilby each and a small hollow egg and then a gift, usually something to add to their craft box (they love craft!). Though DS2 is only 13mo, so no chocolate for him yet :)

We usually go to my mums for a seafood lunch, but on occasion she's been to busy to bother. We dont really have any Easter traditions. DS does an egg hunt but thats about it.
Was going to get a rabbit instead of chocolate for DS this year (because he always has too much chocolate after Easter) but we caved got one a few weeks ago..oops lol

I have plastic eggs that I hide around the garden then the kiddies collect them in their basket - They get 20c per egg they find for their piggy banks.

I usually get them 1 or 2 sml choc eggs and then a toy of some sort .. this year they are get a new backpack each ...

Its Dh's fave holiday so he gets LOTS of eggs.

We will probably go out for brunch somewhere - depending on how our new addition is going by then.

What a wonderful idea! Is that a tradition you created or is it a tradition you or your DH took over?

Here DS goes to bed the night before & spend an hr or so with DH hiding all kinds of Easter eggs...then do the rabbit footprints with stencil & talc powder on the carport from the doggy door. The next morn he wakes up bugs out his brain & starts hunting bring em all back to the living room to show us then pigs out...lol. He has an absolute ball...then we do lunch with my dad & a lazy arvo. Just the wonderful way I remember it as a kid & love watching DS dig it now :)

Well we will be going to Mum & Dad's, it will be DS1's 3rd Easter and DS2's 2nd easter so will do a little easter egg hunt for them at Mum & Dad's, then no doubt will be going to the in-laws for a late lunch early dinner there.

Will get the boys a little easter egg each and we are also thinking of getting them a little tikes table & chairs outdoor setting, we havent really bought them easter pressies in the past so thought we would do something this year.

We do the same thing every year and just buy the kids the dinner sets with whatever character they are into that year. It comes with a small egg as well so they get chocolate. DS will just get DD's.

This year we are hosting a easter lunch for family & friends with lots of food and good company.

Can somebody explain to me how the holiday actually goes? Like what day cant you eat meat, what day is actually 'Easter' and what day are they supposed to get the eggs?
Im too lazy to check my calendar and am having a brain fart and cant remember how it all goes.

That exactly what my kids get:D. We are not religious so I see Easter as another commercial holiday, and a waste of time and money TBH.

i think my parents will be here for 5 days over easter. they will no doubt buy him chocolate and go overboard with it(well mum will) as i havent bought him any chocolate for easter apart from once. depending on money, i might get him a toy instead but unsure what toy it will be.

will just be a relaxed day more or less, might get fish and chips on the good friday, see how the money thing is mainly

Attend Mass and celebrate the Resurrection of Christ.

Easter actually goes

Good Friday - fish is eaten instead of "meat".

Easter Sunday - celebrated as the Day of Resurrection - eggs are given to symbolise the rebirth.

In our house traditionally we have friends for a big fish and chip dinner on Good Friday. Easter Sunday we attend Mass and have a family gathering that involves an Egg Hunt that my mum and dad devise. My kids get eggs from the Easter Bunny on Sunday morning (though limited and the Easter Bunny traditionally brings books in our house too!)

Happy Easter and making your own traditions.
