Yesterday and today I have had a small amount of pink discharge. I am in my 2nd trimester. Would you bother calling the hospital or would you just leave it at that. I havn't had anymore pink discharge today.

Hi
If it was me, I would be worried as I have not yet seen a single tinge of coloured CM throughout the whole of my pregnancy. So I would ring the midwives at the Hospital for their advice and see what they wanted me to do.
It's probably nothing to worry about, but a second opinion is always a good idea.

haven't they told you that you have a low lying placenta?? If I am remembering correctly, then you should ring the hospital now to find out what they want you to do.

I wouldn't hesitate to ring the hospital. I would rather be safe than sorry. Good luck and let us know how you go.

I agree with the others def. worth getting it checked out. It is probably nothing serious but always good to be on the safe side. Let us know how it all goes & I hope its nothing serious :hugs:

Well I did ring the hospital and I had to go back up there again last night.

Sam's mum - yes they did tell me that I have a low lying placenta. But with it not being alot of bleeding I don't know what is okay and what isn't. I don't know I guess I kind of feel silly having to go up there at least once a week for them to check on bub. I feel as though they probably think I am overreacting for going up there all the time (does that make sense). (they said that I shouldn't be silly, but that dosn't help me stop feeling that way).

This is my 2nd pg so I get the impression from lot's of ppl that I am meant to know what to expect and what is normal but I don't:crying: I have no clue at all.

The outcome of last nights trip anyway was a total sex ban (sex what is that, I havn't had that in a long time) so that really didn't bother me. And incredibly light duties. I will be dropping one of my shifts at work so I only work the 2 shifts a week (3 hour shifts). So hopefully all that will stop the spotting etc.

Good luck - I remember the sex ban... :o

When they told me that my placenta was low lying my ob gave me a talk.

No sex
No heavy lifting
take things easy
any sign of blood get to a hospital as soon as possible. I didn't want to post this bit before and freak you out before you got checked out, but she told me that it only takes 5 minutes for the mother to bleed out if there is a serious problem. I was also told that if I had an actual bleed I would be in hospital on bed rest until the baby was born. She said sometimes they will let you have the bed rest at home if you have someone who can be with you 24 hours a day to care for you.

I don't think that the staff at the hospital will think that you are overreacting. This is a serious thing and it is better safe than sorry.

(the doctor really did freak me out a bit with the talk that she gave me, but I think that it was to get me to take it really seriously)

.

I feel like the same thing is expected of me. They seem to think that we know everything because we have already been pregnant before and therefore should know when and why to call the hospital.......when DH called for me due to pains a few nights ago they said "is she in labour?" and when DH said he didnt know (I mean i cant really remember what labour was like because everything went haywire with DS and a lot of people i know have been in labour and not known it, and braxton hicks contractions are so much like labour sometimes) the midwife said "oh then shes fine".......................YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

What some midwives etc dont seem to UNDERSTAND (and most should given their profession) is that EVERY PREGNANCY IS DIFFERENT so we cant be expected to know everything even if its our second, third or even eight pregnancy!!!

If you are ever unsure as to whether or not to go to hospital i would go see the GP (thats the advice i have been getting from most people) and they will send you to hospital if its a concern. But if you are CONCERED AT ALL I am starting to think that NO MOTHER should be left "unsure" and should be WELCOMED at the hospital in order to eliviate concerns.
