Just a question ( I know im full of questions - Im so uneducated lol) my friend has just fallen pg and she is a smoker just wondering if anyone has conceived whilst smoking and how long it took.

My SIL smoked heavily and the doctor advised her not to give up as it would be more stressful for the baby! As far as I know they had no probs conceiving.

Also a friend of mind smoked throughout her pg and didnt have any problems, she conceived pretty much straight away and without even trying!

Of course, continuing to smoke whilst pg can cause problems so if your friend can't quit at the very least she should cut down.

i was a fairly heavy smoker when i fell pregas.... without even tryen... as ds wasnt planned. i quit as soon as i found out though.
i have a few other friends that are heavy smokers too that had no troubles getten preggas.

DH and I were giving up:rolleyes: , that means we didn't smoke at home but we might get a pack between us if we went to a party or the pub, when I conceived. I stopped taking pill start of Aug, conceived in Sept.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and it took me just under a year to conceive the first time around. I quit the day I had an inkling I might be pg and havn't looked back since.

As for the comment about being a heavy smoker and it being stressful for the baby if you give up my Dr disagreed and said the best thing is to give up.

I do believe you as I have heard other ppl's Dr say the same thing. ;)

i have read, been told on more than one occasion that smoking greatly reduces your fertility.

and we all know how devastating it is for the baby.......I HOPE

I was a smoker and pregnancy was by accident... but I guess it happened straight away.

I was also told by a doctor (who I explained I had quit several times before), that added stress was bad and if needed, it was ok to have a couple here and there...
I personally went through more stress then going cold turkey, but still needed the odd one on bad days (i.e. any day spent with ex or his family lol)...

i too was a smoker when i fell preg and we had not planed for bub.. hubby smoked aswell and we fell almost strait away!
my baby didnt like me smoking cause once i fell i just stopped smoking one day... i woke up and hubby smelt of smoke and i chucked from that day on i havent smoked! yay for me its been 4 months now!
