I have stacks of mcn from ds, and prefolds and covers. But dd has super skinny legs and the wees escape when i'm feeding!

Am i doing something wrong or does she just need to chub up her legs?

Do you have newborn/adjustable covers? My babe was just under 3.3 at birth with skinny chicken legs and the newbie bummi covers and thirsties adjustables were fine. A couple of escapes but were fine 90% of tbe time.

Most of my stuff is small or osfm, nothing for nb. She's only 3.1 kg atm so we'll probably just have to wait for her to grow into them

Small would def have been no good. She fits into small bambootys ok (they are tiny) but aside from that it's newborn size still. She's now 4kgs. The nb size seemed huge when she was first born.

One of THOSE mums!

I've seen quite a few posts with people having the same problem.
I think with really small bubs it is common to use sposies till they fit the mcns. But from experience sposies leak too!!!

Ds was a massive bub, and was probably over 5kg when we started using them on him... Wasnt really prepared to have a really small one this time! I guess we'll just have to stick to sposies for now

Nb sposies were too big for DS and leaked all the time!

What brand MCN are you using?

My daughter was only 5lb (2.2 kg) and we did cloth from birth. We had no issues with leakage. She didn't fit into any of her smalls until she was a few weeks old,but for the first weeks we used mainly terry flats or bamboo prefolds with XS Bummis and small BBH PUL covers, XS fitteds and XS Bubblebubs AIOs.

Does it look like they are fitting around her legs properly?

My daughter was 2.8kg when we brought her home and at that point was too small for her bitti tuttos. By the time she regained the 3kg mark they were fitting fine.

My second daughter was 2.6kg and the best disposables I found to fit her were Pampers newborns. They're smaller than Huggies and with constructive angling of the tabs you can avoid leaks most of the time :)

I have some small bbh covers, maybe i'll try them next. I have bitti tuttos, bum genius pockets and organics and bonnibuns... Mostly the issue seems to be the fit around the legs, her thighs are really skinny!

Pregnor - are you using the hip snaps on the tuttos? They help with the leg gape a little. My T is 4 months old with gorgeous chubby legs now and we still get the odd wee leak while feeding, it just seems to be par for the course. Making sure the inserts are straight down the middle of the nappy helps a bit, but the wee can sometimes miss the insert altogether and head straight out the leg when she's on her side feeding.

Good luck finding something that works, it can be very frustrating in the early days.

DS3 was 2.9kgs born
I found even bamboo prefolds too big for a while
I started using them more from around 2wks old
we had a variety of newborn and XS sizes (both fitted and aio's)
(I found the bummis small covers where better fit than BBH as their smaller)
we used Bubblebubs XS, Patooties XS, Clothed up Bamboo XS, Sandi's Fitted XS,
Cherubs Kiss Honey Boy in S and Raphael's (I loved this),
that fitted from about 2wks (just over 3kgs)
that I used before DS3 started going into smalls at around 4-5kgs

we also used sposies overnight and when out and
when I ran out of nappies (I only had about 12 that fitted so that didnt last long)

DD was 3.2 at birth and the only MCN she fit were the Rumparooz Little Joeys (Premmie/NB), she was 6 weeks old before she fit into OSFMs.

If your NB sposies leak try fastening the tabs lower on the front and folding the top down to reduce the rise :)

I had the same leaking problem with dd, even in disposables, she was 2.7 kgs. (found Babylove to be more leak proof than Huggies) Never fear, it does get better as the legs chunk up.

Widget, generally yes I think there tend to be on the smaller side of the norm. LOVE my Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delights. These will fit a super small bub up to about 9kg (they say to toilet training but am finding that not to be true). They also come with 2 boosters, a smaller one and a trifold, so as bub grows you can adjust how much absorbency you need.

The bulk of my stash is the Mother-Ease Sandy's in Small, they fit from about 4kg to 9kg. (2 months to 10 months for us) You do need a booster with these as bub gets bigger. If you buy new the bamboo is SSSOO worth the extra.

Keep an eye out for sales and if you're on a tight budget look for 2nd hand that haven't been used for too long.
