ok so im not a domestic godess i have a million and 1 ideas but little to no motivation however i really love the mcn's aio kind and really want to try them dh gives me a 1week of actually washing drying changing them until im over it but i really want to give it ago. and they look so darn cute :D

basically i wanna know what you do with your mcn's
do you do the old 2 bucket trick
do you uses flushable liners and just dump and flush
do u have the toilet squirter to wash nappy of in toilet
and are they front loader friendly

my main aim is to use them at home as much as possible andjust have sposies for when we go out which wont be very often lol

I am a bit deficient on the domestic godess front also. I have a dozen mcn's and I might go for a week or 2 not using them and then go back to them for a while - you're right, they are super cute and I figure ever time I put 1 on her, that is one less sposie in landfil. I have just been using non-flushable liners but would prefer flushables personally. I don't have the squirty hose thing, but I would love one - I think it would really help me to use them more consistently.

I am by no means a domestic goddess (and I really mean that) and have been using MCNs with my two (who are both still in nappies) pretty much since the birth of my first child.

I used liners but have now, after 2.5 years, invested in a Little Squirt that is yet to be installed, which will be great hopefully as my two have always had really gross poos for some reason :barf:

They're so easy. I love them. And the cuteness factor absolutely cannot be underestimated.

Go easy on yourself. Just start out part time and build up to full time. Remember - even one less disposable a day makes a big difference!

I've started using MCNs too, mostly just for when we're home (which is most of the time!). My DH was and probably still is very sceptical also, and said "but why do u want MORE washing to do?"... But I used my better judgement and got them anyway, and I think it's great that I'm not throwing out hundreds of nappies each week now. Every little bit helps. I love disposables, and they are the only thing that fit under the kids' clothes when we go out, but I feel good about not using so many now.

And it's really not that much extra effort to wash them even, I'm always washing anyway! I just give them a quick rinse in the laundry sink, then throw them in a nappy bucket until I have enough to wash. And I do use liners most of the time, they're great.

I say give MCNs a go! (never thought I'd say that!). =)

I do not find them harder than spossies at all.
I use one bucket and when it is full (about every 3 days) I put a load of nappies on (in my front loader ).
I currently use washable or no liners while my baby is exclusively breastfed but will switch to flushable when he starts solids because it will be much grosser.

I forgot also that with my DD2 a couple of years ago, she was a once day pooer and not too gross. I would just put her nappies through the daily washes.
Line drying your nappies in the sun is very important.

Funny - my DH said (when I was pregnant with our first) that he was basically putting his foot down and we were using cloth and that was that. Luckily I completely agreed - but he's just as into them as I am, and always has been!

You can stick to washables without too much drama. As long as they catch the poo, DD's pretty much just roll off of the liner, no hassle :)

He'll probably get over it. DF washed ours while I was in hospital after having DD, and has changed them from the get go. Try baby beehinds magicalls :) The ultimate easy nappy IMO, or get a *pretty* from maybe silky creations or trissy tots or similar with something *daddy friendly* embroidered on the bum ;)

Ohhhh some men... it's exactly the same as using disposables, u just wash them instead of throwing them in the bin! My DH still can't get his head around the fact that we can't just throw them in the bin. But I just keep reminding how much money we're saving..

I have been using MCNs since Ds was born 2 years ago. I don't have a little squirt but instead keep a 'poo knife' (just a butter knife from an old picnic set) on the bathroom window to scrape off the offending matter. Works really well and is a much cheaper option!
The washing is no hassle but drying in winter can be. Just make sure you have a clothes rack/horse if you dont have a dryer!

ETA my DH wasn't and still isn't keen but he changes them and complains about cost when we buy sposies for travelling etc!

Do we have the same DP? Mine is dead set against MCNs, he says he won't change bub or wash them. I'm planning to go part time in the beginning - using sposies for outings and overnight. I've got heaps of prefolds for the newborn stage and around 20 small/OSFM MCNs. I think the same as you, if they don't work for us at least there's resale value!

I think if you decide to use mcn's you should expect to be the one washing them ALL the time!! I didn't actually consult my partner now that I think on it!! Hehe but new that the washing responsibility would be all mine.

He hasn't really got much of an opinion really he just changes them like normal and I guess he likes the idea of the cheapness and no land fill.

My bubs is still solely BF so I just rinse them before washing in front loader. Haven't really thought about when she starts solids! Gross!!

I have no trouble with the washing and I suck at housework!! You really just have to put them in and press a button!! I only have 22 and am using them full time bit will prob have to buy some more for winter as they won't dry as quick.

I also found that when I started using mcn's I found i hated disposables. It's just so
much waste!!

Its easy to use them when out as well coz most come with a little wet bag. Just chuck it in and deal with it when you get home:)

Wow so much to say! Have fun buying them theyre so cute!
