Hello,
It seems there isn't too many HB mums on here but I thought id give this post a try and see if maybe I can get the ball rolling.
I've just moved to Hervey Bay as my hubby got a job up here. Im going to be a SAHM mum for a while so im looking to make some new friends here, and give my 3 year old daughter some time to socialise with other kids.
I live in Urangan and im ready to get out there and meet some mums and maybe organise a group? ......or if anyone knows other playgroups/mums groups that are open to new people...(you know, some mother groups can be abit clicky!:().
Look forward to hearing from some HB mums (or dads).
Sarah
I used to live in Eli waters. All I can say is goodluck. I found hervey bay the hardest place to make friends. Everyone has sticks up their bums!! Maybe try the crazy maze place near hungry jacks and bunnings, same side as aldi. Might find some playgroup advertisements there or ask the workers, usually a mums group that meets there
sounds great we will be there in 3 weeks. what is urangan like? we will be looking at propert next week for renting.

I think people seem to be alot friendlier here in HB than in Brisbane where im from. I just think you have to really get out there and get involved - in which Im not sure where to start with all that. but thanks.
Urangan is a really nice quiet area, right near the beach. We currently live on the esplanade (in a unit) across the road from the beach. Which is just awesome. Also walking distance we have cafes, bars, fish n chip shop, shopping etc.
It was suggested to me to move to Kawungan (family friendly, close to hospital) but when we checked out houses there, they seemed abit boring (there are nice parts though) i felt why live in Hervey bay when you have to drive to the beach and shops?
I don't think there are too many bad areas, it just depends on what you want. However one tip about house hunting is, what you see on the net is not exactly what you see in real life.
We thought we found awesome houses (kawungan, scarness and Urangan) and when we got there, they were aweful crap hole houses with aweful unprofessional real estate agents.
Even though we love the unit we are in, we would have preferred a house but we just ran out of time. So good luck, defaintly have a list of homes you like, use goggle maps to see what your neighbours houses look like (Im nosey like that) and RP Data is also good site if your planning to buy.
Where are you from btw?,
Sarah

Does anyone have Facebook? We could add eachother there :)

Hi,
We have just moved to Hervey Bay only a few weeks ago. I am looking for groups etc to try and make some friends up here. I am 27 and my husband is 30 we have two children 6 and 10. I am free to meet up most days for coffee or a walk etc.
