Hi, I am an ebay seller and I have a store on ebay which I am currently winding down and will eventually close.
I find that selling secondhand things from around the home is alot more successful.
eBay has recently changed it's fee structure for stores which has wiped out alot of the profit and alot of sellers have closed up their stores.
I find it's alot of work for very little profit. I have also been ripped off by 2 wholesalers who took my money for stock that I ordered and never delivered. I am now looking at taking one of them to the small claims court.
My only advice is be very careful who you deal with as there are alot of shonky traders out there.
I just started an Ebay business going very well, takes up a fair wack of time but it's all good if it's working. My best advice is find something that interests you, then check it out see if 100 people are doing the same if they are what are your chances of success?

Ebay is a great idea (might get started myself one day). Everybody has the same question - what to sell. Start with things from home - buy some cheap stuff - to build your feedback. buy some items and try them out (don't worry about profit at start) then look to buy what works wholesale. Ebay has some free tools - turbolister is so you can set up your listings while off line (good if still on dial up like me). A friend of mine imports from China from alibaba website. She learnt an expensive lesson! and now has some reliable suppliers. there is so much free info on the web. Good luck.
Too many ppl 'do' Ebay now, maybe a few years ago it was very profitable to be a seller but not anymore. I still sell occasionally use it to get rid of some things around the house but i don't think i would rely on it as a regular income. I takes a lot of time for not much profit after fees, chasing up ppl who don't pay for items etc.

I agree with stellaj_79. A few years ago Ebay was a great money making venture, but not now. I sell random items from around the home and the fees are high. So not much profit to be made in the end. The other annoying thing, which is getting more frequent is non-paying bidders. They know that generally people aren't going to give them negative feedback for being a non-paying bidder because they will only leave you (the seller) the same. I have contacted Ebay about this and so have other people I know of. It doesn't seem fair really.
