I bought DS a teething necklace on the weekend, and I'm not sure how it is going to go at child care. I am worried they are going to be concerned about choking or other kids grabbing at it.

I can't put the necklace around DS's ankle, because he has cankles  and his foot is smaller than his ankle, so it slides right off.

We live in a small town, and although I have seen a few other kids around town wearing them, I'm ready for comments - especially because I'll also be telling them I don't want them to give him Bonjella anymore (which they have done a couple of times without my permission).

Does anyone else send their child to care with a teething necklace on? Any issues?

My Daughter has worn hers to two different centre's and there have never been any problems.... She had it from 4 months and still has it now at 15 months!

Just let them know what it is .....

Most of the staff think my DD's is CUTE!

My son goes to two different daycare centres. One was fine with it for 6months but has now changed their mind. The other hasn't said anything about it at all.

But I'm in shock they gave your son Bonjella without your permission! That is insanely wrong!

Mine have worn them 24/7 since about 6 months old. No issues.

OMG! I would tear them a new one for giving my child a medication (Bonjella) without permission. I work in health care and can't apply any type of cream to anybody unless it is in their drug chart or care plan. That is so dangerous and wrong.

I work in child care and a lot of the children have them. The only issue we had was a child grabbing another Childs necklace and breaking it.
It should be fine really, accidents happen and as long as it's not really loose then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for all the speedy replies!

I was really annoyed when they gave DS Bonjella without my permission... The first time they told me, I think I was just a little too shocked to say anything. The second time I was in a rush and couldn't stop to talk to the room manager.

Tomorrow morning I will be telling them I don't want him given any Bonjella, full stop.

I work in children's services and am a great believer in teething necklaces but I don't think I would allow a baby to wear one to bed without checking if it is a sids risk, they are very strict about putting babies to bed properly and it can affect your accreditation rating if you are not following their guidelines, just another perspective.
In regards to the Bonjella, they should not be giving that to him without your permission.

My 2 both wear theres to child care no worries and i love my child care centre DS4 is allowed his bottle in the cot and his blanky as long as the permission form is signed, having worked in childcare i know what luvmyboys is saying but knowing how the system works they can't actually refuse anything if you put it in writting
