Quick question for all you super mums out there. Does anyone have any idea of what temperature a childs bedroom should be for them to sleep comfortably and is a hot room dangerous at all? The reason I ask is we are renting and only have aircon in the lounge. I have box fans in the kids rooms but they are like ovens (as is ours). The house has no insulation so can be ridiculously hot. A few times the kids and I have slept in the lounge to escape the heat. I don't have thermometers in their rooms (any idea where to get any) so no idea really what the heat is but you can feel it the minute you walk in the room. I don't like having the fans on all night either. Any advice very welcome!:)

According to my gro egg it's 16-20 degrees!!

Anything over 24 degrees is too hot, my dd room is currently 29 degrees :o the fan is on high and she is only wearing a singlet and she is still slightly sweating:(
I always know if she is too hot as she wakes through the night, we have the porta cot set up in our room and can pop her in there with the air con on if it gets too hot!!

Well whoever made the gro egg (whatever that is) obviously doesn't live in the tropics.

Even with air con it's rare to be able to cool a room to below 26 or 27 degrees, the best we can do is remove some of the humidity. Reduce it from like 99% to 80% or so.

Wow thats hot - would hate to know how hot my little ones rooms are. The fan at the moment is just blowing hot air. Quite often they just sleep in their undies to stay cool and they do wake in the night. Think if they wake tonight I might just make up a bed in the lounge. Where do I get a gro egg from?

It's from the baby shop it's quite expensive for a thermometer!! $70 we use it as a night light too! It's blue when too cold, yellow when just right, orange when warm and red when too hot!! I must admit though dd sleeps perfect when the Egg is yellow!! Our egg is red so I expect many wake ups tonight:(

It's now almost 11pm & still 31 degree in DDs bedroom.. I have her ceiling fan on full & a oscillating fan on full.. She's dressed in a bonds singlet suit only. It's the best we can do!

If u want something cheaper I can suggest a weather station, I bought mine from Woolworths. It's an upright clock thing which also has the date, humidity and a remote unit you put outside to be able to see what the temp is outside. It was about $22 from memory.

We are in Brisbane and it's so hot today, but manageable with windows open and the fan on. I gave my son an ice pack to hold while we were lying down today.

at our old unit we had air con in the loungeroom and occasionally slept down there when the heat was unbearable. We don't have ac in this house though.

Dd sleeps fine except the night we had a few weeks ago in Sydney when it was the hottest night in 30 something years I think it was around 33. She sleeps with a nappy on and my fan oscillating on her all night.

I heard 18 degrees was perfect sleeping temp for babies.

Its currently been 30 degrees at night here. We have aircon in the loungeroom but even if i leave DDs bedroom door open it only drops the temp in her room by about 2 degrees. So shes been sleeping in a nappy and singlet, sometimes just a nappy. If its over 32 degrees just a nappy with the fan blowing on her.

We got her avent room thermo from the chemist. But it was $40 so hopefully you can find a cheeper one.
