This is great. Although none of my family is suggesting cc YET, I still being told constantly that I am too responsive to my baby and that it doesn't hurt them to cry sometimes - in the car, etc. I realize sometimes you physically cannot respond straightaway (eg driving on the highway) but you should always do your utmost to respond as soon as you can. I am getting the whole host of cr@p about how crying is good for their lungs, how I'm creating a "mummy's boy", how he should wait longer for a feed, FIL even said the other day that crying is good for their mental state. WTF??

DH isn't much better and I feel like I am the ONLY person who has the view that babies cry to communicate a need and good parenting is about respecting that need, even if it is just for a cuddle.

What is wrong with our culture when we see babies as manipulative? Or crying as good for them? Doesn't that just go against all instincts??

Sorry if this is rambling - I'm feeding DS and have had a sleepless night!!

Anyway thanks for posting this - I'll be showing it to DH as soon as he wakes up.
