View Full Version : Cross mummy
I just took my little girl for her 6 week check up at the baby clinic and the nurse told me she hasn't put on enough weight and that I need to feed her every 2hrs. I feed her every 3-4hrs at the moment and she seems very happy with that and goes back to sleep again and then wakes again in about 4 hours so I feed her. I don't see why I should change her little routine just because the nurse says so. The nurse reckons she's too placid...grrrrr! Just because my little girl is happy, content and doesn't scream the house down every 2 mins it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with her!!

My DD was (and still is) the same. Just a happy, contented "little" girl. As long as bub has penty of wet nappies & is otherwise happy, i'd say she's just fine :hugs:
I have never gone to clinics for that reason. I have heard so many horrid stories from my friends about things that the nurses have said.
Go by your gut, if your bub is happy healthy and growing I wouldn't be too concerned. Or if you are worried get her checked by your GP.
Too placid????
My baby is the cruisiest baby in history. MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG!!!
Honestly. Some of the things they come out with

I'm constantly amazed at the advice some CHNs give. Go by the nappies I say. So long as you are getting plenty of wet nappies during the day, then she's fine. I'd certainly get a second opinion before you go changing anything, if you are actually worried.
My DD was also (and still is) a happy girl. People often ask me, "Is she always this happy?". I do assure them that she can make quite a fuss when she wants to, but it amazes me that people assume that babies have to be crying or making noise all the time.
And as for the weight thing, I wouldn't worry about that either. I don't know whether you're aware that the growth charts at the back of the blue book are outdated. If you are concerned, get a second opinion, but otherwise, it sounds like you're doing a great job!:smiliedance:
Thanks guys :) I've had a lot of conflicting stories from nurses from the day bubba was born to do with breastfeeding and after this I don't think I'll bother going anymore, it's just too distressing. It's hard enough being a first time mumma and not really knowing what you're doing.
PS. I'm only new to the forum and I've had so many wonderful support from everyone - thanks for your input, it's very reassuring :hugs:
