HI everyone

Well i wanted to plan a surprise kinda camping trip to take DH and DS on after christmas, but my problem is where do i go, i dont want to just go to a caravan park and pitch a tent i wanted to go somewhere where we can have an open fire and there is not thousands of people and no toilets ( at least for like 100m) so if anyone knows of any places like this and that is not to far from home like maybe an hour or 2 then please help me.
thanks in advance...

We go camping often - love it. But my one the criteria to get me camping is the place MUST have facilities, gotta have my shower in the morning and plug in my hair dryer - then I can rough it for the rest of the day...lol

So you may not be interested in the places we go to (mainly Coffs Harbour or Evans Head) but have you thought about Stradbroke Island - I know theres camping grounds but if u want to get off the beaten track I remember back in my school days a bunch of us went to straddie and set up camp in the middle of no-where. U get the ranger checking in every other day, but apart from that your on ur own, and we had an open fire on the shore line of a night. Was really good - back when I was young and silly and didn't mind a swim in the ocean as a shower..lol We got a ferry over and by memory was really cheap.

DF use to always go away with his mates so if u dont get any other ideas I'll check with him tonight on some other places

Good luck on your search.

we go camping all the time without ammenities/ fires etc but everywhere we go you need a boat to get to. we go up coombababah creek/ straddie. you can go to north straddie via car ferry and camp on the beaches. there used to be somewhere in canungra to go to. if i think of anything else ill post. got pregnancy/flu brain at the moment

Up until 3 yrs ago we use to go to Nth Stradie every January there is a camping area up the beach, you can light fires you have to wash in the Tea Tree & there is a loo with 15 meter drop & no light I was to scared to use that so I just went with nature :D
Now I am a luxuries kinda girl but for a week once a year I was willing ot let myself go & I would come home with beautiful fresh brown glowing skin(thanks Tea trees) & a sense that I really did relax as there was not much more to do.

BTW You have to have a 4WD as you have to drive along the beach to get to it..
