Lauren I am so envious of your stash!!!! I love it :yelclap:
Mine is pretty boring.... 24 BBB, 3 GK funtimes, 1 GK Anytime with 2 Bummis Super Whisper Covers, 6 BB PUL covers.
At least I have 5 more new GK Funtimes on their way to me! :smiliedance:

Cheeky Monkeys, Sports balls, Green Farm, Tractors ( I already have Thomas & 2 Pooh on Gingham) and 1 x baby boy Anytime (I already have a white one)
AThis is probably going to be a really dumb question.... :o but with pockets do you just change the stuffing or the whole nappy at change time?? I have been changing the whole lot but a friend asked me the other day and got me thinking..........

That's not a dumb question. If only you knew what kind of questions i use to ask :o I change the whole nappy at the same time. I couldn't imagine just changing the prefolds/stuffing ect because once it's wet thats it. The inner of the nappy would be somewhat damp still.

The whole nappy is changed! The idea behind pockets is that they will dry quicker after washing cause you can take the nappy apart. Also makes it easier to boost what is needed for each child - ie heavy wetters, light wetters.

Oooer is that an offer ? ;)
Love your stash! Very impressive n00b or not! Like the change table too. I have a pic of my stash and it looks boring but I am happy with it anyway esp the woolies.
Thanks for the birthday wishes every 1. I celebrated his birthday by buying him an embroidered Berry Plush cover....on a nappy ban - does not include covers, accessories etc!
i had a go making a pocket nappy the other day. i used some of my tery flats for a practise, and also because i got sick of folding and wondered if i could just make fitteds out of them all, but they would be bulky at any mmore than 2 layers, so made the pocket then made stuffers out of all the off cut bits. obviously still needs a cover, but they do anyway, at least this way my dp will use them!
i do just love the look of a bub in a big fluffy white terry nappy.
have a look (http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g317/zenia800/thenappy.jpg)
i also have a pic of one of my other nappies on bubs, it's becoming a favourite (http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g317/zenia800/twinklestarbutt.jpg).

Thankyou:o I got some more PUL in the mail yesterday so I might do some more nappies today. I ordered enough for 6 nappies but I only have enough suedecloth to make 2 nappies. I will post a few pics if I can be bothered finishing them today;)
Did someone say Spotlight sold suedecloth? Or am I imagining things?

I have this problem too, I've got loads for the outside, but not enough for inside.
Can you use Sherpa for the lining of pockets?
I saw one roll of suedecloth at my Spotlight yesterday it was on sale for $4 a metre such a bargain, unfornately it was pink, and I know it's silly but I just could bring myself to buy pink suedecloth for my boy's nappies. Plus it didn't actually say it was suedecloth but looked exaclty the same as the sample I brought with me.
I bought what to me looks like sherpa though. It said on the tag high cotton fleece or something, it looks exactly the same as the sherpa I bought online, except Spotlight had pretty colours.

Gosh I know more! A young guy was trying to compare yarns and his guess is not good enough for me! Also a lady was asking about dress patterns - the guy just says I have never sewn a dress! Umm that helps. I wonder if they are crafty at all - at least at the store we went to.

You can use sherpa for the inside of your nappies. Its lovely and snuggly and the poo rolls off it.
Its cheap too. I got it for $3 a metre at Spotlight. Lots of the WAHM nappies have this and it looks nice and works well.

Mum21, how cool is that terry flat!? The hot pink looks so cool! An d Alexi is such a cutie! Don't worry about the folding, check out the link that Oscar's Mum gave you, it has a lot of folds. RainbowBrite uses terry flats too, I think she does the Jo fold, that website (whatever it was, I forget) had instructions for it. AngleKisses uses flats too, but with boys she might be using a different type of fold, not sure!

Lauren- I think it's great that these other great girls are able to share their talents- don't worry I can't sew or knit either.Every Winter my Nanna would teach me how to knit and I'd always have to get her to show me the next year again- and it's not that hard!!But like you, mine isn't around anymore and it's such a shame cause she'd have loved knitting for Hugh.

My DS is a heavy wetter... we have tried GKs a few times for overnight use and for the life of me I can't get it to work for me!!! Me too- last time that I tried was with the large hemparoo (and they are HUGE) and a medium hemparoo together and it was wet at 2am (put on a 7pm). Previously I had tried both medium and large hemparoo's with microfibre boosters.
I had a sucess last night with a BBB (both inserts) and one of those huge 'BamBoosters' which are enough on their own in a pocket without anything else. I could barely do the nappy up, but it worked!
I wish I had a wool soaker, but I don't think I can justify the cost just for the 2 fitteds that I have...
Or maybe I can, if I let DH assume that his granny knitted it for us :detective: :devil6:
Wow, Leisha, good luck moving!

Thanks Shed! :D
That's probably a good help to others too- in the past I've just thought wool+hand knitted = very expensive. Obviously, not so! I'd rather use my BBB's instead of forking out for a $38 night nappy that is sized and needs replacing when bub outgrows it, and these require a cover/soaker anyway

Kazza, that soaker is so beautiful I think the special ones are worth paying for. I have a beautiful one, compliments of our very own talented knitter here on the Hub, but I have just lashed right out (still a bit shocked that I am paying this but WTH) and ordered a CRIKEY soaker. I am a sucker for any product that contributes back to charity and couldn't go past it. :yelclap:

The orange bamboo is so cute! Suits your bub perfectly Mel. I want an orange one....and twilight...;)
I can't really justify paying for woolies since I can knit myself - they do seem exy but it does take a lot of work and they are usually one of a kind- you can't buy identical ones if they are custom hand knitted.
I have the same attitude of nappies that are unique and I jusify it! I would love to get custom woolies or any knitted by someone else esp crocheted ones as I can't crochet well.

Hi all,
I'm new to BH andjust love all the photos and advice on this thread. I am due in Feb and was considering a mix of cloth and disposables- but I was thinking teryy flats with PVC pants. I had no idea their were so many lovely options! Condsider me a full time convert. I have just ordered a huge range of trial packs of nappies, boosters, overpants and soakers to get me started. I hope you will be able to help me with all the dumb questions I will be bound to have (I'll try and check old posts first to see if the answers are there). Congratulations on your beautiful babies and their oh so cute nappies! Thanks so much for the inspiration- I can't wait to get started when Andy joins us :fingerscrossed:

I like the rainbow bamboo!

I was really surprised by the fit. Most of my nappies are FAAAAAR to short in the rise for him, though they are made to fit approx his dimensions. He is tall, and 90th percentile for weight, so a tad above average for 2, and most one size nappies I would give about 3-4 months before they are too short. This bits for bots really surprised me. Def. worth talking to the WAHM and getting their opinion.

The musical nappy is a M and it fits so well. I think I should stick with that when choosing sized nappies.

mum2cooper- You can use just about any of the covers that ppl use with modern cloth for flats, although maybe you need to upsize to fit the extra bit of bulkiness. From memory Bummis Super whisper wrap is good for flats.
Lucy- do you actually measure before you buy? I just guess but i now have 2 pairs of longies that are far to big so I think I will need to start measuring.

I've never been a full time clothie :o - just every now and then they get used but a few days ago, we ran out of normal wipes....and we are yet to buy another packet :yelclap: I've made all my own from cut up terry squares and flannel and they work great! (and cute)
The only reason we haven't converted is the cost. He kind of freaked out about the cost per nappy!
I was chatting to DP about the benefits of cloth and the rubbish problem with disposables and he now wants to use cloth fulltime - he was horrified - so I have the A-OK to upgrade from my flats to MCN if I wish. Now I just need to decide which ones to buy!

Hi CK!
I too like my Baby BeeHinds (the Bamboo is beeeudiful!) and comes in groovy colours. I use my Tots Bots pul wrap over the top, but I wish I had a Bummis one, I'm not too impressed with it for a coupla reasons...
I'm also keen on Green Kids becuase of the prints/patterns of the Funtimes nappies.
http://e-wire.net.au/~eb_tinle/Funtimes.htm
But for fit and cheapness, I like the new style Peapods. They are affordable and even though they use cheaper materials they work well for us and are the trimmest pocket I have. They look so soft and comfy on my lil' bub and I suspect that snaps will be better for when Ariene's older and ripping off the velcro on her Green Kids  http://www.peapods.com.au
I like my pocket nappies because I don't have a dryer and in winter I'll appreciate their quick-drying qualities.
I recommend buying the 'trial packs' of different brands to see which you like the most.
If DH isn't impressed with the set-up costs of MCN, remind him that the resale value is awesome- as in, it's not uncommon for people to buy them on ebay for the same or even more then they are worth new!!
Anyhoo, just wanted to welcome you to the world of MCN- the enthusiasm is contagious and you'll be addicted in no time at all! Although I do still use my old flats occasionally too :D

I got the MM fleece from the wee wuns, I think it's the only nappy fabric they sell ATM.
I'm not taking orders, but I'm thinking it might be something I'd like to do in the future :)
I'd have to get permission first if I want to do the HB, and since I'm converting the pattern into pockets not sure what they would think about it.

I ended up ordering more prefolds (I LOVE them!) and a fuzzi bunz tonight. I'm treading the water carefully so I don't lose paypal privleges  Oh, and I ordered a pea pods last week when DP wasn't home which should arrive tomorrow hopefully! :fingerscrossed:
I went to use my terry flats today and I have no covers that fit :crying: My Bummis simply wouldn't fit over them. I'll practise the folds again tomorrow, but the prefolds are so much softer.
And mum2cooper - I like to fold my nappies either into a long strip and place them in the cover when I'm in a hurry, or else I just fold and snappi them in place and put the cover on top. So easy!

I had leaks when I didn't wash my hemp properly :( I ended up boiling it and now we're leak free!
Now that is an idea
Cobey is very lucky to have someone so talented making nappies for him!!!
