Hi there
Just want some feedback on the angel care monitor
I have one and up to last night have had no problems with it.
Its the sound and movement one.
BUT last night at 1 in the monring the alarm went off only for like 10 seconds. I jumped out of bed and flew across the room to Bayley. There he was lying on his back dribbling and fast asleep. I picked him up for a cuddle as i was alittle up set it frightened me.
I am not sure weather or not something happed and he stopped breathing for the alarm to set off, if he was in a deep sleep. or it was a false alarm.
Has any one expirenced this would love some feedback.
I have an angel care monitor (not the sound and movement one though) but I too had no problems until now. Its got a lot of interference and makes the strangest noises. Its sitting in the same spot as it always has, just not doing the best job anymore.
DI E- another mum on here has one and she said when she used hers with the sound and movement thing it beeped all night???
I would just remove the sound and movement pad and use it as a normal monitor. If you feel comfortable with that.

After last night and the fright i had i i dont know what to do with it. I am hoping to get some feedback and then make a decission. Pesonaly i think it was a flase alarm. But you never know and its worked perfect up to now.
Cool our babies have the same name how old is your Bay???
My Bailey is 9 months old!!! Its flown by, only seems like yesterday when he was born!
Good choice of name
How old is your Bayley? (spelt different to mine)!
Is that him in your Avator?? He is so cute!
I use my monitor still and it doesnt have sensors. I can hear Bailey breathing all night. (except this annoying interference grrr!!!)
Good Luck with your decision! I know it will be hard for you. I think Bailey will be sleeping with the monitor til hes 18 LOL!
I have the same monitor and it went off one night when DD was a bit younger. It turned out one of the pads wasn't connected properly and as she had crept up the bed she was no longer on the one that worked and it went off. I would just double check its all plugged in ok. I've been using it since she was born (now 15 months) and that was the only time the alarm has sounded...except for the times I forget to switch it off and pick her up :o

Thanks i will check it when Bayley wakes up. Im guessing he may have just been in such a deep sleep. cause i did not have to switch it off it only sounded for like 10 seconds.
Yeah i always pick Bay up and forget to switch it off. But to hear that sound in the middle of the night was horrible
i use a graseby mr10 apnoea monitor it a portable hand held machine with one small pad the size of a 20 cent taped to the babys tum then plugged into the monitor and it is set at 10 sec or 20 sec.
its normal for a baby to not breathfor up to 17 sec- this is normal and not an apnoea attack.
so i always set my monitors for 10 seconds when they were newborns to see if they were having short episodes or not.
can you udjust a timer on the angel care? what is the timer set at?

We have used a sound and movement Angel Care monitor since my son was born (14months) and I really like the sense of security it gives me.
We haven't had problems with false alarms except when we were setting it up for use in our portacot. There is a sensitivity setting and we had to change this while we used it in the portacot. We didn't have the instructions with us so did it by trial and error put our hand in so it sensed movement and when it didn't alarm then walked away and let it go off. Didn't take long to get it right. Then we put the little man in just to make sure. If you've had a one off problem I'd check the pad location first, sometimes they move when you are changing the linen and then if it happens again read the instructions and turn down the sensitivity a little.
I know some people are very anti angel care monitors - OOOOHHH the false alarms cause so much more distress.... but I really have found it useful. My son legitimately set it off half a dozen times one night when he was really sick and struggling to breath and rather than make me more afraid it makes me much more relaxed. Unlike many I know I'm not constantly checking on him and disturbing him, I don't sleep in his room when he is sick nor do I lay at night listening to every breath on the monitor. I feel confortable that if there's a problem I will know.

We too have the angel care sound and movement monitor and I use it for every nap, and when I have a shower, I use the sound only setting so I can hear DS while he's watching TV...
We have had a false alarm, but it was due to the plugs not being connected properly... Check that the pads are positioned right and plugs are connected... Also check the sensitive...
I love the peace of mind it gives me and I don't have to disturb DS just to check he is OK...
Hi there, I have used the angelcare moniter for both my kids.
With Cooper the alarm never sounded once, I used it right up until he went into a bed at age 3. We have the two pad system though, which I have heard has a lot less false alarms.
With Parker though it did start sounding and after further investigation (and Drs laughing at me for having the moniter) that Parker has sleep apnea, and this was only diagnosed because of the angelcare moniter. The first night it went off, we found Parker flat on his face, his head wasn't even turned to the side. It was really scary, but I am so glad I had the moniter cause who knows what could have happened.
I would suggest that if it happens again to play around with the sensitivity, also check that the wires underneath are connected properly as they can come unattached. Make sure the pads are in the middle of the cot so that he doesn't get too far away from them. If this doesn't work, I would look into it further.
I beleive the Angelcare moniters are very reliable, they will beep after 15sec of no movement and go off after 20secs. I have no problems recommending them to anyone.
Dont they just scare you to death when they go off.
I go running into bubs room all geared up to do CPR, ABC, RICE etc. and then find her wriggled up the other end of the cot. The sensor just needed to be shifted.
Someone else must have one in the area as a Daddy making funny noises to his bubba came through loud and clear:laughing:
Its a worry - who can hear me singing to my bubba - not for long their monitor would have cracked!!!:o

As others have said check the connections of the pads... I also have one and never had a problem.. Also if you just have the one pad maybe bubs moved of it???
I have also just started to pick up someone elses house... we turned the main unit off and forgot to turn the receiver off... and normally it makes a weird sound and you know you forgot to turn it off, but this time you could just hear a baby crying it's little eyes out... but that can happen with any unit not just the angelcare...
I have no hesitation recommending it to anybody it's fantastic.
