I know most will probably say doesnt matter as long as it is healthy, but deep down we all have a preference to what we would like, especially when it isnt our first.

1. What do your instincts tell you that you are having.

2. What would you like?

I thought we could compare, and see how many of us are correct with our instincts.

1. My instincts say girl, even though my hunger cravings point toward boy. So I am saying I think Im having a girl.

2. I would really like another boy for Callum to play with, I love baby boys.

I just have now idea. At first I thought it was definitely a girl. Now I'm thinking boy! And as it's my first we really just have our heart set on having a healthy baby. After the difficulties we've had with ttc and m/cs - it really is what we desire the most.

i had a gut feeling last pregnancy i was having a girl and yup i was right

this pregnancy i would like a boy . but at this stage i cant be too sure... but my gut feeling is leaning towards a boy

i honestly have no idea what i am having - you know how they say some people just know - no not me.

i would love a little girl and so would dh, but at the same time as long as the baby is healthy i wouldnt mind either way.

As soon as my DR confirmed that I was preg I knew right then and there that I was having a girl. It's really weird, it's hard to explain but it's a very strong gut feeling (and mine are right nearly all the time). I didn't have that with my Angel so I'm sticking to it.

Also when mum was preg with me she said that she was craving Vinegar and funnily enough that is what I want! I would drink it straight if I could. I am very sick with this one whereas with Angel Ethan I wasn't at all. The only thing that was different was that I went off meat. But with this preg I am sick all day, can't decide what to eat and when I do it doen't go down well in my tummy. I can never satisfy my hunger either. Also with before I knew what my Angel's sex was I had only picked boys names and couldn't decide on a girls one, but with this one I have all girls names and no boys!!

But we shall see when it's born. But you know what if I am wrong I really don't care at all as long as it's in my arms is all that want!! I really do!! Roll around April is all I can say.

1. What do your instincts tell you that you are having. My instincts tell me I am having a girl. But all my wives tails point to a boy. The heartbeat, the ring dangling above my belly, the chinese gender chart - all a boy. With DD all of them pointed to a girl and it was right. But I wont be convinced its a boy until I find out at 19 weeks.

2. What would you like? Either. I would love a son so I can have a mummys boy and so my DH can have a son to teach mechanics too (he is a mechanic). But I would love a girl so I can do her hair real pretty and dress her in pink (just like DD #1) and so my DD can have a little sister to do all sisterly things with.

wedding ring on a chain - hold the top of the chain and steady the ring about 5-10cm above your belly. If its circles its a girl - back & forth is a boy :)

·· Hold a pendant over your hand. If the necklace swings back and forth, you're having a boy. If it is more of a circular motion, then it's a girl. This can also be done by suspending a ring on a string above your belly.
· Do you have acne? Some believe that getting acne during your pregnancy indicates you're carrying a girl. Maybe the acne is caused by twice the amount of female hormones?
· Pick up a key. If you've picked it up by the thinner end, you're having a girl. Picking it up by the bottom, rounder part means a boy is on the way. Did you pick it up by the middle? Then congratulations! You're having twins!

Low-tech ways to find the sex

There are alot of different chinese charts, and I think it depends on whic ones you do. There are those that ask only for your conception age and month of conception then there is another that asks for your birthday and the rough time of conception. I have come across a few which I will out a few links on here.

This one below is supposed to be 66.5% accurate.. and is based on your chinese Lunar age which is 2 years older than you currently are. To calculate your Lunar age click the Lunar age link down the bottom and type your birthdate and todays date in but remember to do it in the American style which is month before birthdate!

did any of you guys find that each chart gave you a different result? obviously i realise that they are not 100% accurate and just for a bit of fun but i would have thought that they all used the same formula therefore giving you the same result.


oh well i guess i will just have to find out the old fashioned way - at the u/s.

just on a side note what happens if at the anatomy scan the baby has its legs closed and they cant tell the sex - do they send you again, or is that it?

Not sure what an anatomy scan is (is it the 18-20wk scan??), but DD had her legs crossed for the 18 and 30wk scans, we just had to wait till birth to find out what she was.

Funny thing with her though, they couldn't see her face on the 30wk scan either, they poked and prodded her for over half an hour trying to get her to move, but she wouldn't. They said "she should be right". Famous last words as she was born with a cleft lip!!

I know you get a pretty good idea with the scans at what sex it is but I wouldn't take it for granted because I know a lot of people that had scans and they were told the sex but when the baby was born it was the complete opposite!! They had the nursery organised and clothes and everything else.

I did those little test thingys and I got the same answer everytime....GIRL!! Funny how that my instincts are telling me that too (i know it's a fun thing though).

I have two boys already so a girl would be nice, i dont have any feelings either way at the moment. The boys want a brother, my DH is adament that its a girl, he just has this feeling.

Well I was right, it's good to know that I am in tune with my feelings still. It's a shame that I never got to meet her but I know that we will one day. But it's a comforting feeling to know that she is being looked after by her big brother Ethan. I couldn't ask for more!!!

I have always wanted a boy first and then a girl. My prayers were answered but not in the way that I thought, oh well it's all good.

So now I have an Ethan and an Angel (that's what I called her ), nice!!
