What do you do when you can't latch them on because of wind they must have in their tummy. They are kicking and moving around which means they will not drink enough milk to settle. I am BF. I try wind drops which don't seem to make much difference.
Thanks for your help.

Hi my dd was the same and i actually found she was having trouble latching onto the teat as it was too big for her mouth so i changed eventually after trying many to the pur teat for newborns and it worked great for her. Also i found with the wind i used Marina infant mixture which i ordered online from http://www.morzone.com.au/ also just from the chemist the brauers stomach calm worked really well.
I would sit her upright to feed her and sometimes she just needed me to apply pressure under her chin to guide her onto the teatand get her drinking. Laying across you lap and rubbing their back helps.
Sorry i wish i could be more help hope it gets better for you, just trying different things helps you figure out eventually what your child needs or what their problem is. it took me nearly 3mnths to figure mine out completely with her wind and how to deal with it.

Hi again Mel. The wind thing has come up for every one of my bubs. A lot of patience is required, I have found. One way to feed is to let him feed until he pulls off then pop him upright and just gently rub his back until the burp comes. He may scream and squirm a bit but if you can see it through for a minute or so, he should burp and then can go back to feeding. Also doing the same thing between boobs, if you are offering both of them, can help too. Establishing this as a routine only takes a few days. Otherwise, if you don't feel you can hold him and have him happy doing this, try lying him on his tummy as this will help bring up the wind too.
Trouble with latching on and feeding may also indicate that your cxhild may have reflux. Fussiness at the breast and turning away can indicate this.
Try and feed with his legs pointing downwards and see if this helps, so that he is essentially hanging down.
If it is definately wind then I would suggest more frequent stops to burp even though he will probably scream, if you can get a few burps up mid feed then he will feed better.
