Hi,

I am organising my Layla's christening for sometime in October. I am having trouble finding a good restaurant for about 30 people to have lunch, I am just after a nice place, roomy, with nice food, thinking of paying about $40 per head. I live in the western suburbs but I would be willing to go into the city. I have no idea who to ring, I have looked in the yellow pages but there is so many! Any recommendations?

Hi, first of all welcome to bub hub!

There is a great Italian restaurant in Doncaster called "casavinis"
We had our DS christening there.
It is a smorgas board and costs about 40-50 per head. They also have music which I found was a great way to entertain the guests.
Let me know if you would like anymore details.

I second Casavini's...we have Christmas there every year and the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful...very welcoming to children!!!
There is also another place, it's an Italian Social Club - we had my Dad's 60th Birthday there and they have alot of different groups of parties, and again there are kids everywhere and they have a band. There were a few Christenings the day we were there. It's called L'Unica Receptions and is in Brunswick Road, Brunswick West.

Thanks for your replies. Casavini's looks good. I would probably go for the Buffet on a Sunday depending on availability of the church I guess. I better get on to the church first. Am thinking St Bridget's in Carlton. Also, is the buffet any good? My family likes to eat. Is it cheaper than the set menu? I don't know much about this things.

bubbles28 did you have your DS's christening on a Sunday or Saturday? I guess they don't do lunch on Sat. Sorry lots of questions but you ladies are so helpful! :)

We had our son's Baptised on a Sunday - I don't think they do them any other day, but you can always check.
With Casavini's we've always had the buffet for Christmas lunch and it is absolutely scrumdiddliumptious (and we owned a pub so are picky about the quality of food) - great service, wonderful food...you'll have a great time...we do every Christmas.

Thanks for the quick reply mamaduke. Sunday might be the day by the sounds of it. I will check with church (as soon as I settle for one and ring). Restaurant sounds even better now. I will pop in during the week for lunch and check it out.
