I amost fell over (in my lovely blue boots) when I saw fussy eater, but now I understand...
Ummm how about if you stir fry some cabbage with bacon as an side? Bacon makes everything taste good :D.
Or you could just feed it all to Jack .
Things i do with cabbage, if you are interested i'll post recipes- asian cabbage salad with crunchy dried noodles, pretty yummo served with chicken satays, or german type cabbage, slow cooked with butter yummy with pork chops, then this one sounds :barf: but my mum used to cook it for me and i love it with tom sauce, its like stir fried cabbage, shallots, soy, garlic, sesame oil and then couple of eggs cracked over and stirfried thru- trust me sounds gross but is pretty tasty. I also use cabbage finely sliced on my salad rolls, makes a crunchy alternative to lettuce and is especially yummy if its the purple cabbage- dh hates this but i LOVE my huge salad sanger.
let me know and i can dig out the recipe book!

As a yummy side dish, I cook it slowly with bacon (it does make everything taste good!), onion and a tin of tomatoes - season well with salt and pepper.
Also cabbage rolls are delish.....I have to locate the recipe though:detective:
Just shred it and throw it in with a stir fry - it wilts so much it practically disappears, adds nice bulk to it, so you can use less noodles/rice. :)

Fry off a little onion, garlic and fresh chile in a tablespoon of oil. Throw in half a cabbage (finely shredded), some salt and a *tiny* pinch of turmeric.
Toss for a few minutes until it's just about cooked, squeeze over a little lemon or lime juice, and throw in some chopped fresh coriander.
Serve with rice. A meal in itself and REALLY yummy.
i put bacon in with my cabbage yum yum
You could make a face mask :D helps dry up pimples...yes I have done this lol hmm what else oh yes you can eat it lots of ways what about saurkraut? (sp) yummy

You can make cabbage rolls - stuff whole steamed leaves with seasoned mince, roll up, and cook in a casserole dish of tomato puree.
Buy a piece of corned beef, and cook it in plenty of water. When about 30 minutes from done, add a peeled bunch of baby carrots and shredded cabbage to the pot, and cook. The corned beef water makes it taste great. We are having it for dinner tomorrow.
donate the leaves to a local new mums who need boobie relief?
Seriously, you're going to feed Jamie cabbage? do you think he needs MORE wind? (sorry Jamie, you knew I had to say it)
I'm no help as I loooooooooove soggy cabbage.

Cabbage au Gratin..
Roughly chop, steam or boil until tender.. throw into an oven dish, cover with white/cheese sauce and top combined grated cheese and breadcrumbs.
Bake in moderate oven for 20 mins.
Coleslaw
Stir frys or mince chow mein (or any savoury mince dishes) are probably the best way to go seeing as it virtually disappears in them - you dont even know its there.

You can also shred cabbage finely and add it to casseroles. It gets hidden!
Heres one for you Jen,
Being of Chinese decent this is a recipe that has been passed down through my family....I lurve it! But DF HATES it! Give it a go....
Kai-se-ming
*1 diced onion
*500g mince
*1 dsp curry powder
*2 dsp uncooked rice
*1 pkt chicken noodle soup
*3 cups water
*beans
*half a cabbage shredded
*chinese five spice
Brown mince and onion. Add curry powder, salt, pepper, spice and water. Cover and simmer for 40 min. Add beans and cabbage, cool until tender.
This feeds about 4, so you might want to halve it.

Okonomyaki - Japanese Pancake come Pizza thingy....
Pretty much pancake type mix with cabbage added and your choice of meat - then top it with bbq sauce and mayonaise.....we do an aussie version here - ie. without all the fish flakes and jap style sauces.....
Goes down a treat with my fussy DH and my boys.
You can do a search on the web for it and you'll find a heap of different recipes, but just change them to suit yourself.

I recently came across a nice recipe for cabbage lasagne. Essentially it is lasagne but instead of pasta sheets you use shredded cabbage. I also call this dish "lazy cabbage rolls" as it tastest exactly like my Mum's cabbage rolls. My family loves it and for those fussy eaters and cabbage-haters - the cabbage absorbs so much juices from the meat and tomato sauce that is almost undetectable. If anybody is interested, I can post the recipe.

If there are 100 things you can do with cabbage I would know about them!
My Mum's family is Polish and cabbage is a huge thing with them - during Winter in Poland cabbage was their only source of Vitamin C - there's some useless trivia for 'ya!
Sauerkraut is one - although you do need alot of cabbage to make this and my Babcia used to have hers fermenting for days. Come to think of it, it's easier to buy the tin. Here's 1 recipe I can think of...I'd post more but my Babcia would be in bed now and I don't know exact measurements!
KAPUSTA Z JABLKAMY
(Cabbage with Apples)
6 servings
1 md head cabbage
1 tb salt
3 or 4 green apples
2 tomatoes (optional)
1 ts sugar
1 tb butter or 3 slices crisp bacon
2 sliced onions
Shred cabbage. Cover cabbage and onion with boiling water. Let
stand 10 minutes. Place butter or broken bacon slices in the bottom
of a saucepan. Add drained cabbage with onion, apples and tomatoes.
Remove seeds from tomatoes first. Seed will give a bitter taste to
the cabbage. Add sugar and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.
Salt while cooking.

OK, I've been asked to post the recipe for that cabbage lasagna. Here it goes:
700g beef or pork mince (I used beef)
1 medium onion
1 big garlic clove
1 dash oregano
1 dash basil
1/4 cup rice
1L good tomato sauce (I used my favourite Five Brothers)
1/2 head of big cabbage or 1 small head cabbage
400 g mozzarella, shredded
1. Shred the cabbage, boil for 6-7 min in salty water. Drain.
2. Saute onion and garlic. Add mince and brown. Turn off the heat, add oregano, basil, rice and tomato sauce. Mix.
3. Slightly greese an large oven-proof lasanga dish. Put a layer of cabbage, then the meat mixture. Continue until both meat abd cabbage is finished.
4. Top with cheese.
5. Cover and bake for 1 hour at 180C. If covering with foil make sure it doesn't touch the cheese. Alternativelly don't add the cheese, bake covered, then take the cover off 15 min before the end of cooking, top with the cheese and allow it to melt.
Enjoy.
