Diabetes?

Just a bit of advice needed....

I've been a bit worried about DS lately....he's constantly thirsty and hungry and goes to the toilet all the time.

I have just looked up on the internet about Type 1 diabetes and he has about 9 out of the 12 symptoms:thumbsdown:

Does anyone else have a child with diabetes? I am going to take him to the doctor this week to check but I'm starting to freak out a little!

Any advice would be great.....Thanks

I came on here looking for the same advice, but as no boday has replyed to your post then there musnt be many diabetics around.:confused:
I have a 16 mth old that im getting a bit worried about. Its 11am and she has already had almost 1 litre to drink! Her nappies are full as anything! She hasnt got any other symptoms of type 1 yet and hopefully she just likes to suck on her bottle more than have thirst all the time.
Have u taken your boy to the DR yet? How did he go?

dp had the same syptoms and we got a blood test done luckily nothing seem to be a matter i think it would be best to take him to the doctor just to be on the safe side

isnt peeing and drinking also a sign of uti?

Just go to your GP and have him tested. It won't take long, you'll know for sure and either way you can stop worrying about it :yes:

Thanks everyone, I've taken him to the Dr and thankfully it's not diabetes!!!:yelclap:

Although they did find blood in his urine....they are doing some further tests because they don't think it's an infection because he has not been sick in any way!

Oh well, whatever they say now I can deal with.

my ds has 6 of the signs should i go get him checked out for it:confused: i always thought it was normal for munchkins to drink alot....obviously it isnt...

When i was 14 i was diagnosed with diabetes, mostly when you are diabetic having the signs is not the only thing i was just generally unwell ALL the time.I did have most of the signs thirsty,tired,drinking all the time and all that but i just wasnt my self if your child does not seem his/her self then it is worth taking them to the doctors other wise these symptoms can just be normal HTH if any one needs any advise or anymore questions just PM me.

Me 2.. I was diagnosed with Diabetes at 11 or 12 or so..

BUT.. I didnt have any of the typical symptoms.

Just because your child is drinking alot, and weeing alot doesnt mean they have diabetes. If its a REAL concern then go to the gp, but he careful not to make the symptoms up, or worse then they are just because it says on this list.

if we all did that we'd probably have our children to have been dead 3 years ago by now..
