Does anyone else have some ideas to share for Upper Primary kids' parties ?
We had approx 40+ kids at our house last night for 3 1/2 hours for a movie night - and we survived (the house did, too !). We borrowed the digital projector and screen from my work and our living room looked like a movie theatre. I asked kids to bring their own pillow / camp mattress on the invite and I had spares for those that didn't.
My elder daughters A and B are about a year and 12 days apart (September) so I thought I'd get both parties out of the way in one go with both classes invites (23 +27 kids - not all could come).
We had plenty of party pies, sausage rolls, frankfurts and mini dim-sims, spring rolls to start with, lollies during the movie, and 5 "special" slices for dessert half way through )eg. jelly slice, choc marshmallow, ricebubble, lattice slice) and heaps of softdrink.
Presents : There's a Christmas Shoebox appeal at present for needy kids overseas. I suggested that kids could bring presents for that instead of for my kids ('cos mine will just leave any toys lying around for Mum and Dad to pick up and there's quite sufficient of that happening at present !).
Ideas for a birthday party for older kids can be a bit of a headache - especially if, like us, you're nowhere near a bowling alley or Movie theatre etc. As my daughter plays footy and cricket with the boys I thought it would be good to have them, too. Unfortunately that means a bit more headache 'cos boys and girls like different activities.
I thought there may be other creative people out there with great ideas, too - and I wanted to share my success, of course !
