As the heading goes, has anyone started yet?

so far, I have:

Pram: I got the Beema, with bassinet, brand new, for $150 all up :yelclap:

clothes, I have bought a quite a few clothes, mainly pink, I dont know why pink, but I have a feeling Im having a boy, but as I already have 3 girls, I dont think my chances are great for a boy, and I can always take them back.

Bassinet: given to me by my cousin, its gorgeous, all lacey and sweet

Capsule, my BIL was General Manager of Britax (steelcraft, safe-n-sound), so I got a brand new capsule, (the unity), dont know the price yet, he hasnt gotten to me yet.

Nappy Wrapper (because I have always wanted one), this was my just because buy....

so far, 1 box of huggies, I may just buy the 1 box, I only used a few newborn nappies with Charli, she was 4.6kg, so chances are that that is all I will need.

Im not buying a cot yet, we are buying a bigger house before baby comes, and will leave to see how big etc the cot can be when we find out how many bedrooms there are.

OK, now its your turn..

lol, what havnt I got more to the point. I went through all my clothes about 5 months ago, when I opened up my shop, and kept the bits I really liked, everything else I have put into the shop. I did get a new pram, a zu zu I think IGC, that I really liked, so I kept that, and I got a new cot, which is better then the one I had with the other kids. As I still have 6 months, and am always picking things up, will just see what I like, if I come across something else I like, will keep that, and sell the others instead.
The only thing I really need is a carseat not sure if I should go capsule first, or reversable seat. we have a magna station wagon, and its going to be snug with three kids in the back, but Sofie is out of a booster now, so hopefully it wont be too tight.

Our DD is only 15 months, so we still have everything and its all in mint condition.

Only thing we will need to buy is blue clothes and linen if its a boy (we are finding out) and we will need to get our DD a booster seat for her to sit in so baby can have the baby seat.

You'd think that having 3 kids that I would have everything, but I don't. I am starting from scratch.

So far I have a pram ($100 off ebay) and a couple of stretch suits. Hopefully I will be able to get everything I need before I give birth.

Matthew is still using a highchair, so I also have that.

Oh yeah, I have a cot...paid $20 for it 11yrs ago, lol. Don't have a mattress for it though.

I used to have a rocker, sold it about a month before I found out I was pregnant. Used to have maternity bras too, gave them away the week before I did the pregnancy test, lol.

I have only bought a set of cot sheets and a slinky malinky story book ! Pathetic I know.... just being cautious because I don't want to be stuck with a heap of stuff incase of a dreaded m/c.

Otherwise my sister is giving us just about everything else.... cot, baby bjorn, monitor, port-a-cot, etc etc etc.:D

Only thing we have to buy is a pram, cot mattress, all purpose bag and the general everyday stuff.

Did visit Babies Galore yesterday, I swear half of the women in Sydney were there.. & pregnant. Pram choices way to confusing, I left numb !

LOL
We still have everything left over from DD (who is now 3)... the only thing I may buy is some more clothes & sheets if this one is a boy, and I'm looking at investing in some fancy new cloth nappies :)
Oh, and hire a capsule as DD is nowhere near out of her carseat yet.

i had nothing until yesterday, was trying to hold off until i reached 12 weeks, but i went into target yesterday and they were having a sale on all nursery stuff and i picked up a portacot for $99 (reduced from $160), i was going to wait until today (as im 12 weeks today) but they only had one left and i didnt want to miss out.
after my scan today dh and i are going to go and look at a few baby shops so we might end up with some more stuff today :smiliedance:

I have a new pram, used portacot (but want another one cause then I can leave one at my parents house), and have nothing else really. I am hoping that when I have mine that all my friends would have finished with their stuff and I was going to ask to borrow them. My Auntie in England has a lot as well so I might ask her to send some stuff to me and I will give her the money to send it back to her.

Don't want to buy anything really till the 16 week mark cause I lost my little boy at 15wks so I don't want to jinx it! Silly I know.

My plan is to buy something each month, and hopefully finish up with my complete nursury at the start of my 3rd trimester.

My shopping spree for this month was a cute baby bathtub, more nappy things, more linnin items and a bunch of playgro pond products.
I realy love baby shopping and can't wait till the clothes for Autem come in so I can spend up on that too:thumbsup:

Well......I have decided that I am NOT going to go and spend hundreds of dollars on clothes for this baby, seeing as I already spent thousands on clothes for my last 3 kids. So I am going to call my sister and ask for all the clothes back that I gave her when she fell pregnant. As far as I know, she never even used them and she never said thanks for them, so why should she have them??

JuniorMinime
19-09-2006, 11:42 AM
I hope she gives them back to you angelkisses if she doesn't then kick her in the bum lol. SHe should though considering she didn't even use them, how rude!!

I am hoping to have a baby shower in December/Janurary when my bestest friend is over from the US!! I can't wait, she doesn't even know that I am preg yet!!

wow I haven't bought a THING. The only stuff I've spent money on is a few maternity clothes. But I know the family are going to go nuts with baby stuff so maybe I'll wait till after Christmas, I might not need to buy anything :)

I read a good article on baby capsules and booster seats in the NRMA members magazine, I will come back and post a link if anyone is interested.

The only stuff I have is a rocking chair for me, a rocker for bub and a high chair. I haven't bought anything yet and we won't until later in the year. We have to move after Christmas so I don't want to get too much just yet.

I was walking past Blooms Chemist today (used to be amcal) and I noticed they had Tommee Tippee gift packs for sale for $14.95, RRP $49.95, so seeing as I had a $10 voucher for there, I went and grabbed one. They had 3 dummies, some teats, 2 bottles, a dummy shaped medicine dispenser and a training cup. So that has been thrown in the cupboard with the rest of the baby stuff.

Here is the NRMA link on child restraints. It has a score for some brands too

NRMA also have fitting stations that can fit the restraint for about $30

OMG, well, there goes the idea of the unity, thanks heaps for that link, wow, it rated 2nd bottom....

Looks like the regular safe and sound for me.

Also, see the series 3 got best, wonder why? I mean, it is good, but I thought the other sns's were better.
Gosh, I had a series 3, and threw it away not long ago, cause I thought it was ****..... (I have a sleep'n'recline safe 'n sound, which I lurve)

We have a SNS Jupiter Ultra (retractable harness), it was Jacobs when he was a newborn, but someone was saying the other day that you shouldn't use car seats that are over 10yrs old. His is in perfect condition, so I thought it would be fine to use. Wonder who I can call to ask??

they are from best and less.

i want to go back and get some more but its hard since we dont know the sex of the baby yet, so i had to buy non-gender specific ones.

i got some really cute ones for my friend whos baby girl is due in december.

they range in sizes from 0000 right up to size 2, so i bought a mixture of 0000 and 000 as im not too sure what sizes i really needed to get.

Yep, its 10 years, which is why I have to buy a new capsule, I have Lauras here, which was my nieces before laura and my others, but it hit the 10 year mark in April, so what a waste. I think its an insurance thing, if you have an accident, there is no 3rd party insurance if the baby is hurt in any restraint over 10 years. (Im pretty sure that is the case).

I dont think to be honest that the car seat I have will outlast the babies full 4 years in either, I have just put Charli in a booster, she is 3 and a half, but I need to get her used to a booster before bubs, so I swapped her over, her seat is in perfect nick as well, the sleep and recline, but I also think that is around 6 years, it was for Ainsley after she went out of the capsule, so it would be around there, so another 4 years, and it is useless, so I have used my brain....lol.... the baby will be approx. 3, so I will need to buy a carseat for 1 year only, omg, may just buy one of those seats that can be used until 8 or whenever after that.

Mind you, my stepsister just had a baby on Monday, and she has her in the old brown capsule with a velcro strap, which she took into hospital and put the baby in to go home, and there was nothing said to her, now that is pov.... lol

YAY! I am sooooo happy! Ebay has come up with the goods again, and I have a near new mothers choice car seat with all attachments, and a beautiful baby walker all for under $100.00! How is that? Ya just can't beat it! I am slowly accumulating the stuff that I want. I have loads of baby jumpsuits, I just want to find out the sex so I can get colour appropriate cute outfits & accessories! So excited! I still have a bath and change table in one from our first son, and that was really handy, it has a flip lid and drain hose, so no bending! It is great!

As Charlie will be two this November we still have everything, which is great .. We are finding out the sex this time (it was a suprise last time) - so we can buy specific clothing .. it is hard not to buy things already .. although I did purchase a ELMO play gym (brand new) for $50 - instead of $100 .. I thing as it was last year's "model" .. Just a tip for presents for the baby, it is great to be given a hamper - with nappy wipes, nappy bags, cotton balls, lotions, shampoo / conditioner etc - as it always is needed .. I think it is a great idea and will be kindly asking for one again .. xx

A friend of mine had her third baby in February and already had everything. So I brought her some bum cream, baby panadol, teething gel, a brush and comb set and some shampoo. She said it was the best gift ever, far better than clothes and toys that she already had a ton of.

oh, totally agree, when my first was born, my hubby was determined that we would use cloth nappies, when she was born, my best friend gave me a pack of huggies, it was the best present ever. All that stuff that costs money over time, and saves you having to leave the house.

On the "what have you got sofar topic" I now have a relatively empty room to set up the nursery in. I totally cleaned out the kids rooms today, and moved them into one room, left my daughters clothes in the babies room. I am not joking, it took me 7 hours, minus a lunchbreak, to clean their rooms, I threw out 8 bags of rubbish, papers broken toys, mcdonald toys etc, uneblievable... wonder how long until they trash it again...:banghead: doesnt usually take long.

I give them till......5mins from now, lol.

I cleaned out the kids toybox yesterday, it's one of those 70L plastic crates. I got 2 shopping bags full of rubbish. No wonder they couldn't fit their toys in there.

Going to sound like an idiot here....but on the subject of making lives easier, we used paper plates for dinner till matthew was 6mths old, lol. We didn't fancy washing a ton of dishes when we had so much work to do. We were in the process of buying a house, packing and moving too, so it made things a lot easier.

My MIL has gone mad and bought me lots of baby things (I gave her a list so she would know what to get:laughing: ))

And thanks to a certain B-H member who tiped me off on a sale of Playgro products I now have my Playgro nursury:thumbsup:

My Dh and I are going to buy the Furniture this month. So I'm hoping to find a Toybox, Bookshelf, Chest of draws (sp?) for changing on top of, and a breast feeding chair + footstool (and maybe a small tea table)...........................
