My DD has been going to daycare one day a week since she was 11 months. The 1st couple of months she had a bit of a runny nose but other than that she's been fine and hasn't caught a thing :)

*touch wood*

DS went into daycare one day a week at about 10 months. He was fine, the odd runny nose, but nothing to cause him to miss a day.
I, on the other hand, was sick for 6 weeks straight, with two seperate nasty bugs and lost 15kg :p I was also very, very stressed and not looking after myself at the time, so it was really my fault.

The only other thing he has caught is nits, ugh.

My eldest went one day a week. She had never been sick prior to starting. She very quickly got sick with gastro. She also had numerous colds and minor tummy viruses. Hasn't been sick since she stopped going.

I assume so. I wasn't in around any other people to catch it from. I don't think he got the bugs badly as I would have been producing antibodies for him, and he was healthy lol

My dd was sick non stop in child car for a year, pulled her out about 6 months ago cos it was driving me crazy abd she has not had one illness since. While she was there she had tonsillitis, colds, coughs, and hand foot & mouth disease twice.
This was just us though, it's just a gamble, your ds may not end up sick at all you never know! Good luck! :)

My boys went 1 days a week for 6mths and the whole time it was cough, cold, snot nose etc. I found using a multi vitamin did help reduce the illness.

DS has been going full-time since age 3. He got a few colds to start and one or two mild tummy bugs, then last year he had tonsilitis which was awful but it hasn't been all that bad. He had one kind of cough that lasted the ENTIRE WINTER but he really could've picked that up anywhere.

I do notice he's sick a lot less than my friends kids, especially when he was 3 and not the best with hygiene. My friends live in pretty bad areas though so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it (especially in terms of things like nits etc).

O and J were never sick before starting day care...

the first year they were sick all...the...time., colds and gastro and conjunctivitis blah blah blah...

But after that they've never caught anything.

And Gabriel, Julian and Lysander have all been going and never caught anything.

My kids go to CC 3 days a week and they always have colds in winter. And there have been outbreaks of whooping cough and chicken pox at the centre, but so far they haven't caught those. My kids are fully vaxed but that doesn't make them fully immune to any of those diseases, I just hope it helps give them some better protection.

Both my kids have been in daycare since they were 2. Our eldest caught every bug under the sun in the first 6-12 months of being there (except chicken pox, but he was exposed to it). Since then, he's had the occasional seasonal cold.. but that's about it. He has an awesome immune system now! :)
As for our youngest, he suffers from asthma and eczema, so he gets horrible heat rash and bronchiolitis every year without fail. But as for sicknesses since starting daycare, nothing! Apart from the fact that there are always going to be snotty kids, it also depends on the places you send them to aswell (eg. hygiene levels, etc). I am a germophobe and a cleanaholic and am very pleased with the cleanliness of my boys' centre. If you're worried, go on a tour of the place, make sure you check out the bathrooms/kitchens, etc.

hi,i put my 2 little girls in childcare 1 day a week for about 6-8 weeks.... they were sick every week alternating with gastro and ear infections and a cold, then in turn me and my husband were getting sick also. It was hard seeing my little ones sick all the time, and as i dont work i felt a bit selfish putting them in there just for me to have a break when they were getting sick anyways. (although now with my husband working away i do miss the break LOL)

DD is 2 and goes to daycare once a week. She has a shocking immune system and gets sick almost Everytime we play with other kids!
She got a couple of colds in the first month we sent her but she hasn't been sick in the last 4-6 weeks so I think it's actually a good thing she did get sick because it's almost like her body can fight anything now! We went to an indoor play center the other and there were a heap of sick coughing snotty kids and she didn't even get sick! I was stunned!
