View Full Version : Cleaning ear wax. Ideas?
My 3 yo DD has alot of earwax in each of her ears and is now complaining of an ear ache, again.
DP is taking her to the Dr this am to check for infection, but last time we asked they said they don't clean little kids ears.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of some of the build up?
Its enough that I wonder how well the ear thermometer is working.

This may sound a little strange but believe me, it works..Go to the chemist and get some Coloxyl drops, which is used to treat constipation in children. Put some in the ears and it'll help get rid of excess wax.
Or Waxol drops are good too, that's what we've used before.
Thanx.
can these be used on a 3yo?

Just found my waxol bottle and it doesn't say that you can't, maybe ask your pharmasist? I know my parents used it on us when we were little. I've been going to use it on my 3 year old but his ear has cleared up since.

Waxol is very similar to Coloxyl..it can be used on a 3yr old.
my suggestion is not to put anything in the ears and see your dr who may refer you to a specialist... my DS has alot of wax issues and recently had grommets put in... there may be bigger underlying problems that need to be addressed...
But also good to try is ear candling, its an ancient art of placing a special candle in the ear and burning the end of it, the heat draws the wax out... you can go to places to get it done professionally or you can get the candles from health places etc... This may be an option to try..... Sounds a biy wacky i know but it actually works very well
