After a missed m/c (picked up 5wks late at routine scan) I was a total nervous wreck for the 1st tri with this pregnancy. Pretty much everyday I'd scour the net looking for the tiniest scrap of reassurance that pregnancy symptoms and morning sickness come and go, is different for everyone, with every pregnancy and so on.

Anyway I kept a brief M/s diary and promised myself if bubs made it through to the 2nd tri I'd pop this up on a board somewhere just incase it helped anyone else going through the same thing.

Morning sickness diary

wks 4-6 - no signs at all, just no a/f and a bfp 2 days late.
wk 6, day 1 - woke up feeling awful - like shocking hangover that lasted all day. Exhausted by pm and Slept 11 hours straight. Sore nipples.
wk 6 days 2-7 - constant hangover with additional nausea, worst in evenings when extreme tiredness also set in. Sore nipples.
wk 6 day 7 - single smear of pink/blood tinged CM after loo wipe. Freaking out!!
Wk 7 day 1 - dating scan pm -little bean happily there with hb 153 bpm and measuring 6w5d :-)
Remainder wk 7 - utter exhaustion even after 8 hrs sleep. vomiting or dry-reaching every single morning, with constant nausea all day. Breasts tender but not painful as before.
wk 8, day 5 and 6 - barely any dry reaching in morning, feel comparatively ok. Still exhausted and occasional vomiting by evening. Breasts not sore.
wk 9 day 1-3 vomiting back with a vengence in morning, no sickness in evening, just exhaustion.
wk 9 day 4-6 - no sickness in morning and more energetic today. Exhausted by evening but not sick. Enjoyed a long (restful) wkend. No sore nipples.
wk 9 day 7 - Dived straight out of bed to throw up. Achy/itchy breasts and sore nipples again, nausea all day.
wk 10 day 1 - no sickness, just late evening nausea a bad headache.
wk 10 days 2-6. No vomiting, barely any dry reaching but still mild nausea. serious stomach bloating by evening everyday - honestly feels like i might burst!! icecream really helps....
wk 10 day 7 - vomited on 3 separate occasions during morning. felt dreadful all day.
Wk 11 day 1 - no sickness, feeling a little tired but otherwise 'normal'. Scared...
Wk 11 day 2-7 - No sickness what so ever and feeling relatively normal, bar slightly tender breasts.
Wk 12 day 1 - Fetal doppler arrived in post. Struggled with the decision to have a go and risk it being too early, then spend nxt week freaking out until scheduled U/S. Decided to go for it and heard the most beautiful sound in the world, bub's h/b thundering away at 145bpm!!!

So that was my first trimester - M/S pretty well all gone by week 11, and only a couple occasions since - usually related to being hungry. Cruising through the 3rd tri now and all seems well.

Using a fetal doppler early on is a personal decision, and a very hard one for worriers like me - the pay off is huge if the gamble goes in your favour, but i guess it's important to keep in perspective that if you don't have any success with one early, you really don't know any more or less than you would had you not used a doppler. Easy to say "don't stress" I know, but believe me I've been there. Sadly the worry never really goes away I think, mums just get used to living with it...

Thanks guys for sharing your own experiences, they've been and continue to be such a sanity saver to me!!
