View Full Version : Advice? Developmental Paediatrician
Hi,
We are off to see a developmental paediatrician on Thurs for my DS who has sensory processing disorder and autistic traits, well that's what we have been told by OT and other Dr's.
Can anyone give us an insight into what we can expect from this appointment or any advice on what to say/do ect??
Any help would be greatly appreciated as u have to wait so long for the appointment, we just want to get the most out of it.
Thanks!!

An awful lot of talking, watching & question asking. Our Pead always asks me questions about how they are at home, diet, fluid intake, sleep & just watch what they do.
Thanks Tripletime for replying! Once the paediatrician gives you a diagnosis where do you go from there? Do you have regular appointments with the developmental paediatrician or is it a once or twice a year thing?

We go every 3 months, we don't have a Dx for J yet. Still waiting for a few appointments with GI, OT & speech.
Our development Pead is also our every day Pead. He deals with as much as he can & refers us when he has to.

Hi. Dd has just got her dx for asd. I'm in wa and this is the way it happened for us. We saw development pead once, speech therapists once and 3 appointment with the psychiatrist. The pead has to agree there is a issue then they refer u to the rest and the psychiatrist gives the final dx. Goodluck. I hope you get some answers.
Eta: we don't have anymore appointment in regards to asd. It's just therapy now. She does have to go back for genetic screening and mri but that's unrelated.
Thanks Kris and Tt, it is nice to have an idea of where we are heading. I get the feeling that most Dr's just presume that you know what the next step is but really this is a totally new experience for us.

If you don't know what's next, ask them. Doesn't hurt to ask & most expect you will ask questions.
