Hi All
We have decided to try for another baby...we have a beautiful little boy almost a year old now and would really like a baby girl this time ideally (happy for a boy too - babys are a beautiful gift)... we realy only want the two children so ideally a girl would be lovely...

so.... i stopped taking the pill on 14/1/11 - had my period on 17/1/11 for 4 days....

i just wondered if there was any tips/methods we should try there is so much info on the internet i am so confused thought it would be best to hear from really people ... lol

Thanks everyone
Bec from Sydney

Well they say the biggest thing is timing, so they recommend for a girl to DTD 1-4 days before Ovulation, so the days leading up to it, not actual on the day itself. But in saying that i'm pretty sure I was right on ovulation for my girls.

so if i have just come off the pill in the dates above - would i be ovulating already?

I would by an ovulation kit, and test when you ovulate.
Apparently having more acidic CM favours a girl too. I think you get this by increasing calcium and manesium in your diet.
have a look at the in-gender and a-gender web sites for info too.
Good luck

Have you heard of the shettles method?

Or O+12. Check out the In-Gender website ;)

Hi Bec!

Timing is one of the LEAST important factors when gender swaying, and some of the Shettles method has since been disproven in recent years, so really educate yourself about what the important factors are. In-gender is a wealth of knowledge and is free....the site owner has neglected it, and as a result, there are some glitches which can be frustrating, but if you can stick with it, I think you will find a lot of helpful information. :) Good luck!

I also used the in-gender website and forums to TTC a little girl. We used the 0+12 method for this pregnancy, and it looks like we're having a pink one :D Will find out for sure in around a week!

I also changed my diet, took calcium and magnesium supplements, used Sylk lubricant, the missionary position, and didn't orgasm :D Probably other things that i've forgotten too! There are heaps of things you can do, it all depends on how serious you are really.

Good luck!

I don't believe in the "timing" theory either. I tried it for DS2, we BD 3 days before O and wala he is a boy. I was also taking calcium and magnizium tablets. Next time I think I am going to concentrate on CM. Good luck!

The 0+12 method is basically you have sex roughly 12 hours after you ovulate. From memory anywhere between 8-20 hours is ok. They say you should probably abstain from sex for a good 7 days beforehand as well, although a lot of people don't (we did...probably more like a month, actually lol).

Basically, i think you are supposed to be more alkaline when you ovulate, which favours boys....the theory goes that there is a period of acidity several hours after ovulation, which will favour girls....this is what you are aiming for. You have sex once, roughly 2 hours after ovulation....and then nothing until you are certain you are no longer fertile.

I used the baby gender swaying methods in the Prince or Princess Guide by Alicia Pennington. You can read a review of it here...

http://princeorprincessreview.com

In a nutshell, it covers ovulation timing, the best positions to use and the best foods to eat for either a boy or a girl.

Have you got a 'Maybe Baby' to help pinpoint ovulation?

They are about $70 from the chemist or priceline may also sell them. It is a little microscope and you put saliva on the lens and look through to find the ferns. When you see a mixture of 'pebbles and ferns' you are about to ovulate I think. It explains it better on the packet. It is reusable so it is not that expensive in comparison to the ovulation kits.

However, it works for some people, it doesn't for others.

I used it for my first pregnancy however we didn't get past 12 weeks, so not sure if 'worked' or not!

I didn't use it for this one.
