View Full Version : Am I going MAD???

Hi all,

I have no idea whether I am going mad or not, but I can swear that I can feel the flutters in my belly already from this new addition of mine!

I can swear I have felt them for about a week now, and it is certainly NOT gas! It is like a wriggling, bubbly sort of sensation, that comes and goes in my belly, and I have it on both sides of my tummy, sometimes at the same time, and others at different times, and I have never had it before being pregnant or I didn't recognise it when I was pregnant with my son.

I have been researching the net in the hope of finding out if it isn't my little wriggler, then what is it? I saw on a web page that it is possible to feel it if you have already had a child because you are more in tune with your body, and you know what it feels like to have the baby movements.

I am hoping that at my first appointment, the doc or ob will shed some light on this...!

Tell me I'm not going MAD!!!

I had something similar right throughout my 2nd pg. I didn't ask much about it and to be quite honest didn't really think much of it - it didn't hurt and wasn't uncomfortable so I didn't worry. Oh and I could still feel it once bubs was definitely beating me up from the inside out.

I still get phantom kicks 15 months later after giving birth to Isabella.

Is this your 2nd baby, because possibly u can feel it with 2nd, not possible with 1st.

I remember missing the kicks so much after birth, with both kids, as much as it was nice to have them with me finally, there is something so special about them kicking in your tummy.

Nope you arent going mad, I have been feeling something, but didnt really think it was flutterings, but they are always in the same place, and certainly feel like something familiar. I thought they were phantom kicks you get, but they are daily, and I have never had those weird fake kicks when not pregnant this regularly, maybe once a month.

I believe if you have had previous children, you do feel it early, maybe not so much a kick, but definately movement of some description.

I was wondering if I was imagining it too! I am only just 10 weeks, so thought ... WAAAY too early to be feeling anything, but I've had that weird, "somethings moving in there" feeling more than three times a day for the past three days. And this is my second baby, so my first thought was "oh, flutters." (As opposed to - OMG, what IS that???? with my first!)

Phantom or not, its so nice to have a little reminder that there's a WIP down there. I don't get morning sickness or the like, so sometimes I just feel fat! Flutters help me remember - hey! pregnant!

It was actually funny, when I went for my 12 week check up with the midwife DP asked the midwife about my flutters that I said I had felt on both sides. She looked at him as if he had two heads, and was crazy, and said something along the lines of " Oh, I don't see how it could be that"... and I was like... "well.. Okay then!"... It was a tad disappointing, but I still have them from time to time here and there!

I find there is an inconsistancy with the opinion of what these flutters are...I have heard midwives deny thats what it is...but after 4 full term pregnancy's and with no.5 I can honestly say - they are flutters, I may not have the qualifications on paper...but after experiencing it in all pregnancy's...I have no doubts that baby is moving.
Enjoy the experience of connecting so early on.:smiliedance:

If you consider that baby is 3.5 cms at 10wks then a little wiggle will catch your attention

Yes, well I was thinking the exact same thing, It is like a wriggle and of course you wouldn't miss something like that at that size, but then bubs rapidly grows after that and get bigger. And there is no way you would miss that. I am having wriggles now!.. Thank you for adding your opinion, it makes me feel not as silly!

Mine is sitting here 'wriggling" as I type, awwwwwwwwwww....

I read somewhere, and I think I have said it before, just flick your eyelash against your palm, that is the feeling, and it is!

I am so rapt to have it so early, its freaky!!

Well, I am officially saying that I felt my first Kick last night, not a flutter, it was a kick, felt it again today twice, so no doubt in my mind. also found my uterus, its a lot higher then I thought it would be, about half way up to my belly button...
