Hi again Sexy_minx!
I knew there was a chance I had PCOS as both my older sisters have it. I went off the pill in March this year after being on it for about 13 years! Apart from the withdrawl bleed I didnt have a period at all and after 3 months went to see my GP for some blood tests, I asked for them specifically and told them about my family history of PCOS..
The GP i went to to get the results wasnt my regular one as she was on holidays and he looked at the bloods and said that he didnt think I had it 'at this stage' (whatever he meant by that!). Next time i went back to my normal GP (about a month later i think) I mentioned it to her and she had a look in the system at my results and said she thought i could have it. She asked if I would like to be referred to a Gyno or a FS (Repromed) saying a gyno would only refer me to the FS anyway if I had a problem... so i chose the FS. Within aabout a month of that appointment I had seen the FS and had just started taking my 1st round of Clomid.
If you are not ovulating properly or suspect you are not then i would ask for referals always. There was no way I was going to wait for 12 months when I knew I wasnt ovulating!
At the FS they talked to DH and I and asked some basic health questions. I had my BBT charts all ready to show but they didnt care about them at all! They knew i wasnt ovulating and they knew Clomid would make me do that so after a few blood tests they prescribed it for me. My hormone levels in my bloods came back low so i didnt have to take Provera to bring on AF. Mid cycle I get bloods taken every 2-3 days to check my levels and have an internal scan close to O time to check on the matured folicle.
