Hi,
The Dr says as long as she is gaining weight its ok but my daughter won't eat solids. She will occasionally eat baby pear with baby museli. She is still fully breastfed as she won't drink alfare or soy formula. She does like putting things in her mouth like rusks and rice rusks but spits out any veges she puts in her mouth.
I am after any suggestions on what I can do, should I be concerned? Can I give her soy yoghurt to try?
Anyone have suitable dairy and egg free recipes?
thank you

I wouldn't be too concerned as babies don't really NEED solids til they are 1 year old. Before then its all fun and about learning.
Just keep offering and one day she will take to it :)

Ds was allergic to dairy and soy. He ate lots of orange veggies at first... Pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots. I'm not sure what age he started but I used to steam the veggies until they were very soft and cut them in fingers so he could eat them himself. It's all about discovering different textures and tastes at that age. Grating fruit and veggies is another trick I used. I would personally stay awY from soy yogurt. If your after a nice dessert that is dairy free, Heinz organic do one called mango banana bliss... Ds use to go crazy for the stuff it looks similar to custard. There are heaps of dairy free recipes on the net for babies if you goggle it. Make sure you get a tub of nuttalex from the supermarket (butter substitute) for cooking.

My DD was never really interested in food. I used to just cut up a selections of fruits, cheese, pasta, veges, sandwiches and just let her explore and take her time. Sometimes she would eat heaps. Sometimes it would all end up on the floor.
Even now shes 14 months and its hit and miss. We just have to kind of ignore her and let to feed herself and not make a big deal out of her eating. If she doesnt eat anything so be it but if she does its a bonus.
DD loves weetbix with fruit for breaky so I know shes getting one big meals a day and the rest of the day she just snacks and eats at her own pace. She only sees a spoon at breaky time

thank you,
I bought some of that nuttelex the other day at the shops I found a recipe for a cake I can make with her birthday coming up soon I really wanted her to be able to eat some cake.
I went to the health food section and bought a couple of things I thought might be ok for her to eat so Ill give that a try.
I struggled to find some recipes on the net. I always ended up in a non toddler section and then had no idea.
The heinz one is that in the baby food section?

Hi! My DD is almost 11 months and is allergic to cows milk, egg yolk & whites and almonds.
She isn't interested in steamed veggies cause she hates it soggy lol. It ends up on the floor!!! So I mash her food and I just make up my own recipes!
They're very healthy as I don't add any oil, preservatives etc. PM me if you would like to chat :)
Also, my bestfriend in America mails me packages of Gerber graduate puffs, yoghurt melts, wagon wheels (not chocolate lol) and lil crunchies. They are little kiddie snacks and there is traces of milk etc but DD eats them and doesn't react (eczema). She loves the stuff!!! Only thing is Aust don't sell them so my bestie mails them
For me :)

Yeah, it is usually sold at Coles or woolies. Orgran is another brand that makes flour, bread
crumbs, cake mixes etc that are allergy friendly. Also check out
www.allergyfriendlyfood.com.au for dairy free stuff. They have some cake/biscuit/muffin
mixes called love cakes that are amazingly yummy. I use nuttalex and almond milk but their
are other kinds of dairy free milks you can use if you can't use almond milk. I made ds first
bday cake from a love cake mix. It was beautiful and he loved it. I also made chicken nuggets and mini rissoles using organ breadcrumbs and I mixed grated carrot in the rissoles. I just put the chicken in a bag with flour and breadcrumbs and shook it to make is stick. Use only olive or canola oil to cook it. I bought this book that told me all the items at the supermarket that
were dairy free and had recipes but I've just moved and have no idea where it is so ill get back to you. Also Coles and woolies sell those little pouches by rafferty's garden that are mostly dairy free and are great for little snacks when your out and about and can't prepare a proper meal.

I agree D-F Diva, my DD has severe reflux and delayed gastric emptying and CMP and soy allergy. My gastroenterologist suggested the sweet potato, pumpkin, pear and apple. We have to steer clear of potato and banana due to constipation which causes terrible reflux flare-ups. We have discovered we can't really ahve much wheat either after we tried a small amount of cous cous in her food caused screaming for the rest of the day.
Most of the jars contain either potato, banana, wheat or dairy so we have had not much luck with them but agree that the rafferty's and heinz puches are pretty great and don't have that weird "heat-treated flavour that the other jars seem to have.

Hugs. I can empathize, as my DS went on a food strike and would have none of the pureed stuff we had spent hours preparing and freezing. He is allergic to soy, wheat, beef, egg and tomato, but we are also avoiding dairy and nuts as his big sis is allergic to those
We have found that he only wants finger foods now-and so cut apple, pear and rock melon to the shape of french fries. he also loves french fries, and i prepare sweet potato in the same manner (baked), although it is mushy. There is only 1 biscuit he can have that is dairy, soy and wheat free-nairns oatcakes (finely milled) which is available at our local woolworth's supermart.
His big sis was an avid nurser, and wasn't very good with solids until she was a lot older. They will get there eventually. But even now, she only has a very narrow repertoire of food she will eat.
Good luck

thank you girls.
Dairyfreediva I couldn't get that website to load for some reason.
It would be so much easier if she would eat food. I was thinking of Mrs Flannery's does anyone know if they have any more stock there than a supermarket?
Another question I have is I have been told to avoid high allergy foods such as nuts, eggs etc Has anyone had issues with the MMR vaccine and egg allergy? I don't know if I should be testing egg on her beforehand or what to do.

Hey Chel
I also avoided high allergy foods and ds used to have a reaction to egg when he was younger so I was pretty concerned over the MMR vaccine but at the same time there were a few cases of measles around at the time and I was pregnant so really wanted it done. I delayed it for a couple of months. And only gave it after I tried ds on egg myself at home. I heard egg is an allergy you grow out of so i decided to challange it myself at home. I tried him on the yolk first and avoided the egg white cause that is apparently more likely to cause allergies. I just hard boiled an egg put a tiny bit on his skin first... No reaction... Then I fed him the smallest amount by putting it on my finger and putting it in his mouth and he was fine. I did this for 3
days and then gave him a larger amount, he didn't eat it and played with it mostly but I felt that he was no longer allergic to it. It was only after I was sure he wasn't allergic to egg
that I gave him the vaccine.
Hope that helped...
:)
