Hello again,

Just wanting some advice on what to do with MJ. There are a couple of q's so please bear with me. She's almost 4months old.

She used to be such big sleeper but is now onlt napping for 30mins at a time. Is this enough seeing as she sleeps for 10 hrs at night?

I'm trying to stop her needing to be wrapped to sleep, which seems to be working to a degree. She HATES the heat this is why i'm not wrapping. Is it ok to use sleeping bags instead? Just the ones from Best and Less etc.

What can I do with her during the day? As i said previously, she used to sleep so much & is now requirung more attention.

Should I be "doing/teaching" anything specific at this age?

I think thats it. Thanks in advance & sorry about typo's. MJ's in cuddle mode :p

Hi :)

My DS used to be a big sleeper too....it seems he slept most of the day really. But the past 2-3 months his daysleeps are much different. I think it must just be a developmental thing - there is more interesting things going on during the day, and they want to be part of it, and see whats going on!

As long as she is getting that 10hrs at night and few hours during the day (in total) I wouldn't stress. Particularly if she is happy and healthy and growing, then she must be getting enough sleep. I think the avg is about 12-16hrs in total, cant remember precisely for the 4mth mark though.

Sleeping bags are fine. I have used these for Andrew and they worked well when he was around the 4month mark, but the last month or so, he has hated having his legs confined, as he is a very active thing, loves to kick around and suck his toes etc etc. I do find that the bags are great in cooler weather though, as he tends to kick the blankets off, and having a bag on him is a great way of making sure he stays warm.

What sort of activities do you do during the day now?

With Andrew at that age, we had the floor playgym and kick toys, jolly jumper. He loved just bouncing up and down on my knees. Tummy time, with some toys in front to reach out for. Also just rolling back and forth, assisted by mum/dad. I had a mirror that sat up so he could see it lying down, he liked looking at 'mirror boy' as we called it. Oddly enough, a lot of the time he just enjoyed lying on the floor of whatever room I was in, and watched me tidy up, put clothes away etc.

A big thing at that age though was if he was restless, we would go and sit outside in the garden, he would sit on my lap and just be absolutely fascinated watching the wind blow the leaves around and staring at the branches swaying. Even now, that is the ONE thing that calms him down if he is having a tanty.

Thats all I can think of for now...!
