Hi There,

As the title say Im looking for ideas for school lunch for my DD10 she wont eat butter or any spread aside from nuttella which im forced to buy for at home or she wont eat but i dont give it for school as other children have nut allergies, So she never ate her sandwiches last year, I dont know what to do i have done the wrap thing that will last a few days then she stops eating it, I dont like to give cold meats as they are not good left out of the fridge for to long (Learnt this in food handling training) She doesnt like yogurt either or milk, so i give her a calcium tablet. So she does like salads and pasta ect without bread do any of you have any ideas of meals/recipes that can be taken to school that are not a sandwich or wrap? Thanks heaps for any ideas.

If you put a frozen ice brick in the lunch box container then most things would be okay to be taken including cold meats.
The following can be eaten cold:
*Fried rice- leftover rice with cooked veges and some soy sauce. You can add cooked bacon to it and some cut up plain egg omelette.
*salad with a seperate container for dressing for her to add at lunch so it doesnt go soggy- I dont know if she eats more gourmet salads but a favourite of ours is baby spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes, roasted pumpkin, grilled haloumi cheese, and sometime roasted capsicum and corn kernals.
* pasta salad, left over pasta mixed with cooked veges or raw veges- capsicum, corn, baby spinach, celery, carrot, broccoli- whatever she liked, mixed with a may based dressing or just salad dressing.
* corn fritters or zucchini fritters or tuna patties served with salad (see taste.com.au for some great recipes)
* chicken wings baked with a honey soy marinade served cold with salad
* mini quiches filled with spinach and cheese or ham and cheese served with salad or cut up carrot and celery sticks with a dip of hommus
* falafel with hummous to dip and carrot and celery sticks or some tabouli if she eats it.
* sushi
* mini cocktail sausages with tomato sauce for dipping and some salad
* cheese and tomatoes with saos or ryvitas or some other grainy cracker- you can also add ham too if you like
* A cold pasta salad using cheese and spinach tortellini- add veges to your tomato sauce and serve cold
* cold asian noodle salad- use cellaphane noodles or soba noodles, add lots of finely chopped veges and dress in a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and sesame oil
* rice paper rolls filled with noodles and veges
