My gorgeous almost three year old daughter was diagnosed with an egg and dairy allergy when she was around 9 months old. If she even touched either of these foods, or any foods with them in, she would instantly develop a rash (eczema and raised white welts), her eyes, nose and mouth would water profusely, she would itch and at times cough and say her throat felt itchy.
Needless to say we have become very good at avoiding all triggers and barely notice her modified diet these days.

I know many children grow out of allergies to these particular foods. I think she may have, as she has come into contact with milk and had no reaction at all...

I was just wondering about the experiences of other mums with children who had allergies - is it a gradual thing...or are they just suddenly ok with the foods?
I will be getting in touch with our paed but thought I'd ask while I wait for his call back ;-)
Thanks:yes:

My sister had an allergy to dairy and eggwhen she was little. She has outgrown the milk allergy. But she is still allergic to egg. Highly allergic, she needs gloves just to touch the outside of the shells

My DD (who will be 3 in May) was diagnosed with dairy, soy and egg allergies at 6 months old through skin prick tests. At 2 she was retested for all and had outgrown the dairy and soy allergies. We were told to have the egg retested a year later, but she had a reaction to a macadamia nut at 2.5, so had to be tested for that, and they tested the egg at the same time and it came back clear.
Usually around 2-2.5 some children outgrow their allergies, most outgrow them by school age, others don't until puberty.
It's worth getting her tested now to see if she is one if the lucky ones! Certainly opens up a broader range of foods in my little one's diet.
Just get a referral to the same person who did the initial testing.
