Um, I froze a 3Litre of milk. My mum said "yes of course you can freeze milk!!" they used to live up north on a mission and would do their shopping once a month at Alice Springs, and they'd buy a few litres of fresh milk for drinking, and freeze them until they needed them. So I assumed she had some authority on the subject.
So last week I bought a 3L milk but when I got home I realised we already had 6Lt in the fridge so I froze the one I just bought.
I've just tasted some of it (got it out the freezer yesterday and it's been thawing on the sink) and it tastes........plastic-y. Yukky. Have I poisoned myself? Has the plastic leeched?? When I think about it, my mum probably bought milk in cardboard cartons, didn't she
So my question for all you Domestic Goddesses - can you freeze milk in plastic bottles?

 poisoned by plastic (sorry had to giggle ;) )
My mum use to do the same thing, the whole frozen milk thing. I guess if you like that plastic taste other than that it should be fine :)
Have you tried googling ?

hmm:detective: Living in the bush, I often freeze milk in the plastic containers for later use.
I've never noticed it being strange...if in doubt though - chuck it:yes:

Queenie i googled and found this. I'm not too sure if it applies to what you use but this is for Pauls milk. I hope it helps in some way.
Freezing/Thawing
Milk can be frozen with the exception of Physical milks, Buttermilk and unhomogenised milk. Milk must be thawed slowly and completely in the refrigerator and consumed within a few days of thawing. Pauls Thickened & Pure Cream may be frozen but not Pauls Dollop cream or Sour Creams. Pauls Custards may also be frozen but it is important to note all products frozen must be thawed in the refrigerator.

Oh. Maybe it's just my sensitive palate :D
I guess I could just wait until it's fully defrosted, it's still half frozen and I just poured myself a glassful off the top, IYKWIM. So maybe it was so cold and icy that it tasted funny to me. Who knows, maybe I'm just crazy :p
Thanks for the googling (google-ing?) Loz

Milk tends to separate when frozen. So it will probably taste better once its fully thawed and you can give it a good shake.

ooh good point jasminesmum.
Also, in the interests of being completely honest, I might just add that it could be the Ovaltine that made it taste funny....   :o
