Went and saw my OB bubs is travelling extremely well (touch wood) and is still measuring ahead!
I start antenatal classes on Monday and Im really excited about it!

Hey Ladies,
Had to update my new due date to 38.5 weeks, my OB wants to me to deliver a little early for safety and was going to go for 38 weeks but bubs is a few days behind so we've put it forward a couple. Its exciting to know I'll meet bubs a little earlier but I'm really against having a too premmie bub if I can help it so am standing firm on this issue.
Mummyp, so glad hubby's foot is on the mend, when my lovely partner ruptured his Achilles he was an absolute bear to live with for 3 months! Was so glad when he could walk and run properly again!
mp and Bella we have a standard poodle who's 5 and she is our fur baby for sure! I do wonder how she'll cope when bub comes along but we're trying to ease her into it - not so much sleeping on the bed for example! She takes up too much room anyway and our bed is a king size....spoilt pup! What sorts of things are the trainer teaching the spoodle? Good luck :) they are very smart which helps.
T2SP, congrats on being 27 weeks!! I was 24 weeks yesterday :) so exciting. I hope your virus clears up soon, nothing worse than being pregnancy uncomfortable at night and sick! You're now in the 3rd trimester!!:celebrate:

Hello everyone, glad to see all is well on this thread as I haven't checked it for a while! It's all very exciting now that we can feel bubs moving about and are planning the nurseries!
We had our 19 week scan on Thursday and thankfully, all went well. We decided not to find out the gender. So tempting at the time, but I'm glad I waited! Although, not sure I might not have seen something on the screen at one point?! Still, not sure what I was really looking at anyway!
Planning on getting my SIL to paint the nursery after Easter (she's living with me at the moment and very excited to help) and going to get some curtains/blinds made up. We have a second hand cot coming from a friend, and I'll order a rug soon, but other than that, I don't have any other furniture yet. What is everyone doing about change stations and breast feeding chairs? Really interested in your ideas. I would prefer a chest of drawers that I can sit a change station on top, instead of a separate change table, but it's hard to find ones that fit.
I bought a very cute nightlight (my first purchase) the other day. It's a white rabbit and is so cute!! It's one of the German Heico ones. A bit of a splurge, but I'm trying to justify it with the second hand cot and other second hand stuff coming from friends. And not telling DP how much it cost, lol!!!

Hi everyone
Thought I better stop in and ressurect this thread again!
Bellablue - glad the scan went well and good on your for not finding out the gender, in some ways I wish I hadn't as I am concerned that they might have got it wrong with our little girl - so much so that even though we have a name, I refuse to refer to her as it incase I get too attached and end up with a boy (not that I would care though!) :) I can't believe you only just bought your first purchase the other day, I am pretty much finished most of mine (trying to get them out of the way before I become too big to be bothered )
Scoots - yep, DH's foot is much better although he is still refusing to walk the dog which is frustrating as I always do it but I am having major issues with aching ankles (and swollen ones too!) so it would be nice if he would do it every now and then! Oh we used the have a miniture poodle years ago, so much smarter than our spoodle  The trainer is trying to focus him on his toys etc so he loses interest in eating/stealing everything else in the house! It has only been a week or so but not much improvement unfortunately, unless he grows up really quickly before August, I will have my hands full (and be replacing lots of baby items I think!) His doopy cocker spaniel side is definately dominant :p
T2SP -hope your virus has gone, how horrible to be sick and pregnant at the same time! Great that the GD test was all clear, I am a bit nervous about mine in a few weeks. Goodluck starting your antenatal classes!
1bella - yay for another spoodle owner, they are such gorgeous dogs and very lovable, but this one is definately a shocker in terms of stealing/chewing! Our last one was much better behaved - I think a lot of spoodles are inbred these days which causes the issues! Yay for finishing work soon, so jealous!
Hi to everyone else who might be lurking
AFM - so looking forward the the 5 day break, sleepins everyday for me! We (well DH!) are going to start painting the nursery and it's only a few walls so it should get done over the weekend. We have pretty much cleared the room out so it's nice to see how big the actual room is although it will fill up quickly with all the purchases I think!
Feeling lots more movement from JB the last few days and even felt some movement the other day from the outside although very light. I think I can feel little kicks but still waiting on the big ones which DH might be able to feel. He keeps joking that the movements are just gas from me
Have another Dr checkup next week so will then organise the GD test I guess. Will be interesting to see how JB is measuring, I find it hard to tell if my belly looks huge or small in comparison to others due the same time - people keep telling me I will have a huge baby as I was 9 pound and DH was 11 pound - the thought of a 10 pounder scares me quite a lot
Have a great Easter break ladies!

I am due in September this year, and hoping I am allowed to post in this group? I am not sure how often I will be able to get on, but will try and keep up. I see there is a face book group organised for babies due around the same time, I get on there on my phone most days so would love to join if thats possible?
We found out the sex of our baby and excited to say we are having a boy for our first born :highfive::goodvibes:! I am in full swing getting the nursery ready, we are having a trains theme. We aren't telling anyone in our families the sex though as we'd prefer to keep that a secret until the birth. Is anyone else thinking of storing cord blood?

 Ladies,
Happy Easter to you all!
WASheena - Welcome to the thread! how exciting a boy! whats your EDD so we can add you to the list?
mummyplease - Virus is gone I think feeling much better now.......did you paint the nursery yet? That would be so fun!
Bellablue - Glad to hear all went well with your scan.....I didnt find out the gender either and I dont regret it :)
As for the change table and gliding chairs, I went to baby kingdom yesterday and ordered everything......I was going with a change table only but then mum said the tall boy was more practical because of the drawers etc (it doubles up as a change station too) and I also ordered the gliding chair. What are you thinking of getting?
Scootslove - How exciting about meeting your bubs a little earlier! I guess its ok from 38 weeks + but I agree with you, you wouldnt want it any earlier (if you can help it)
AFM - DH and I started the antenatal classes last monday, and it was very educational (DH thought so as well) mainly learnt about the 3 stages of labour, when to come to hospital, how to time contractions and what to do when your waters break. Im actually glad i booked into them now :) cant wait for the next class.
As I mentioned above went to baby kingdom yesterday and ordered everything (in terms of big items) for the baby....was so excited to finally be able to shop :) they will take about 3-5 weeks to come in though so have a while yet before i can fully have the nursery ready.
Also DH and I decided to go ahead with the artist to paint the nursery and so far he is doing an amazing job (at least i think so ) will post some pics once he is done painting the whole room.
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Well we've made it to Trimester 3 in one piece !!!
I am happy and a lot more relaxed now know that whatever happens from here ( although the longer he stays in there the better) we will have our gorgeous bub with us soon .
Hope everyone is well post long weekend

Hi Ladies
Sorry I have been AWOL over easter with the holiday and then flat out at work.
I don't have time for personals today as I am flat out at work but I had a question for you about a new symptom which has just appeared!
Have any of you had (or have at the moment) carpal tunnel syndrome while you were pregnant (tingling and numb hands)? This not so lovely symptom arrived over easter and I am having trouble sleeping as I keep waking up in the middle of the night with tingling and numb hands which are really painful. Add to this my lovely swollen right ankle and I feel like a bloated mess :(
Just wondering if you did have it, whether you had any natural ways to ease it as I don't think I can take any drugs. Am seeing my Dr tonight anyway so will ask him. Just not sure that I can take another 16 wks of the pain and restless sleeping which it is causing, was nearly in tears of frustration last night everytime I woke up with tingly
Anyway, will try and do personals tomorrow!
Mummy P - I have that and it comes and goes  I find if I drink more fluid it is a little better...
I've made it to 30 weeks tomorrow and only a week left of work :smiliedance: can't wait to be a lady of leisure until the house lights up when these twinnies arrive
Each twin was looking fantastic for thier 28 week scan a few weeks back and they were aroung 1.25kg each and crammed in nice and tight.
I think I'm going to choose for an elective ceaser ATM I have heard both sides of the story and this is the safest for the bubs even though I might be a little off in the beginning ... hmm still thinking about it, twinnies are tricky:rolleyes:

Twins! You must feel huge! I am 22 weeks now And everything I progressing well. Still relatively flat.
Got married a couple of weeks ago an now we can concentrate on the baby project. Weve been concentrTing on the wedding until now. :)

 Ladies,
mummyplease - How did you go at the Dr's? I hope you're not in too much pain!
1bella - :smiliedance: for reaching 30 weeks with the twins! have you prepared the nursery etc?
Have you also started thinking about hospital bags?
AFM - Still travelling ok, although have been getting pains etc but i guess thats all normal.
The artist will be back this weekend to finish off bubs' room so once thats done i will try and put pictures up.
I have been buying the wondersuits for the baby and starting to think about the labour and hospital bags, was supposed to write up a list over the weekend but obviously that never happened
We have our next antenatal class tonight so that should be interesting i hope.
Hope you are all doing well!

Hi everyone
Not a regular visitor to site but thought you might be able to shed light on something for me? I'm 21 weeks, due early Sept and had an appt with Obs today. He was extremely rude and told me at 37 with an IVF baby from a FET I should be having a C-Section and "I was lucky to get pregnant anyway and probably won't be able to again!". This is a man who doesn't know my history as he is the O&G at the public clinic (unexplained infertility). Seriously thinking should have kept private during the pregnancy now. The pregnancy has been a dream up till now and DH and I were planning a natural delivery if possible. Any ideas on C-Section vs Natural for IVF babies - unless there is a medical reason I can't see why a natural isn't the better option.
Thanks
Nae:)
Trying2StayPositive
03-05-2011, 19:51
harneynay - Welcome to the thread! and congrats on your pregnancy. It sounds to me like you should get a second opinion....that OB sounds like an idiot (sorry).....The only times OB's should recommend C-Sections is for medical reasons (and ofcourse if the woman requests it) I've had severe endo and PCO and my OB said there is no reason why we cant aim for a natural birth.
Do you have private health insurance? it might be worth calling a private OB and explaining your situation.
Good luck and Keep us posted!
Stayingcalm
03-05-2011, 20:17
Harneynay, that is appalling behaviour from the Obs. I'm 37 and (obviously!) pregnant thru IVF and my Obs hasn't even mentioned a C-section. Unless there's a medical issue, I cannot see why a C-section would be on the table. Is he your only option if you stay public?

Hi everyone
Oops, have been very slack at posting since I came back from Easter hols, very busy at work.
1bella - congrats on nearly finishing work - I am so jealous and still have another 10 weeks to go. Great news about the twins weights, they seem really good.
DanniS99 - belated congrats on your wedding a few weeks back, wow a wedding and pregnancy, you must be keeping busy!
T2SP - How did the antenatal classes go? Ours start early June and I am quite looking fwd to them, I think that DH will get a shock with all the info though which i find quite entertaining (I seriously don't think he knows what he is in for with the labour etc :D) The dr's went ok, not much he can do about the bloating which now seems to come and go.
Harneynay - I completely agree with Stayingcalm and T2SP that your Dr seems very rude & ignorant on the whole IVF thing. I am 35 so not far behind you age wise and my Dr (not seeing Ob but delivering at private hospital) has not mentioned that to me at all as an option. Unless there are specific complications in your pregnancy, you should not need a c-section just because you are pregnant through IVF. I would definately look for a new Dr if you can or if you don't feel comfortable with this one after his comments.
AFM - saw Dr last week for monthly check up and bub is measuring average which I am happy with. He wants me to get my urine tested next month as he was a little concerned that the swelling (in my feet) had increased quite a bit from last month. It has been going up and down since the apt and the carpal tunnel has actually improved which means it must be related to the swelling? The only negative from the apt is that I have hit the 10kg weight gain mark and apparently put on 4kgs last month - opps, I am blaming easter for at least half of that! He was ok about the gain but suggested that I start watching what I eat and aim to put on about 500g per week from now on which would still put me at 18kgs which is more than I was hoping to put on. I think the swelling (fluid) is probably adding to my weight gain as I don't feel like I have put on that much weight, I feel all tummy at the moment.
Hi to everyone else
Hope everyone is having a nice day!
harneynay

Thanks guys for the comments, have really helped put me at ease. Have since heard others commenting negatively regarding this Dr. Putting my faith in the midwives who have a much better grasp on things. If all else fails, pull the health insurance trump card and choose my own Ob.:)

Hi Ladies
Just jumping on to bump this thread back to page 1.
Hope everyone is doing well.
I am 26 wks today and going well apart from bad swelling on my right side and carpal tunnel in my hands which is not helped by the cold Melbourne weather!
Hopefully we can revive this thread again for those not on FB :) or those wanting to switch between both.

Sorry, MP, I've been meaning to post for ages. Congrats on 26 weeks - as one of my colleagues said to me at that point 'hurrah, now bub is viable!'. I hadn't really thought of it like that but it's a comforting thought.
Carpal tunnel sounds really unpleasant and as a fellow-Melbournite, I agree about the
cold!!
I'm 30 weeks today and absolutely huge. I don't know how much bigger this bub can get! Feeling healthy, just very tired and lots of hip and back pain. Time seems to be crawling at the moment so it seems like a long time till I get to meet this little person
We've started our prenatal classes - really glad I'm doing them, makes me realize how little I know about looking after babies!!
Hope a few of us can keep this thread alive, look forward to hearing from any other lurkers!
Hi to the few of us that still lurk these pages- FB definately has cooled the BH thread!!!
Anyway, I've started Mat leave a week ago and am loving the free time to get things done before the madness starts.... but am having trouble doing my hospital bag for some reason I do a little then walk away, I've done this a few times it must be a form of denial :):freakingout:
Saw my Ob's this week and bubs have both engaged and boy am I feeling it especially when walking and getting out of the car when I've been there a while. I have also developed a strange itch on my palms and feet which is caused by my liver producing bile and putting it into my blood causing the itch ... if you get it go and get a BT to check it out!!!
Other than that all good, these twins are making me lose weight no matter how much or what I eat I have only put on 3kgs all preg and can still do up my jeans - Go figure:confused: even though bubs are thriving they are using up everything I have and then some!!!! only 4.5 weeks to go for me  getting exciting now :)
How is everyone else going

Yay for a few more people on here chatting :cheerleader1::cheerleader2: Felt like I was talking to myself for a little while
Stayingcalm - lucky you reaching 30 weeks, I feel like this pregnancy has been dragging a bit the last few weeks so to hit 30 weeks would feel great for me at the moment! I am looking forward to the prenatal classes too, I think that I (and esp DH) will learn alot from them. We start in a few weeks. I don't feel too huge yet although some days I feel huge more from bloating I think!
1bella - wow lucky you starting mat leave already although can totally understand with you having twinnies! And another one who is past 30 wks, so jealous! I have no idea how you have managed to only put on 3kgs, I am closing in on 11kgs although I have slowed down with the weight gain luckily in the last few weeks. If the twins are happy and healthy though, I guess it doesn't matter how much you put on! I can somewhat imagine being in denial of having 2 bundles of joy arriving at the same time, a daunting but lovely prospect! I freaked out the other day when I had to start sorting out bubs clothes for hospital and I did think at the time that to have to pack for twins would be scary :D
T2SP - aghhh, so annoying when that happens. I now copy my post before I attempt to post it as it has happened a few times to me, especially with long posts! Try again soon!
AFM - the carpal tunnel is doing my head in literally! I can deal with the swollen feet but the pain in my hands is really bad and I am often waking up in agony during the night and in the morning  I am thinking about having accupuncture to try and reduce the pain/swelling. Apart from that, feeling pretty good. Had the GD test the other day so will find out soon if that went ok. Blood pressure has been a bit high so hopefully it will be back to normal by my next Dr apt next week. Hoping to pick up all the nursery furniture in a few weeks and finally set up the room.
Stayingcalm
19-05-2011, 13:48
1bella - only 3kg with twins, that is amazing! I stopped weighing myself a few weeks ago - had put on about 15kg and I really don't want to know anymore!! Enjoy this little period of calm between work and the bubs arriving. How long are you taking off work?
MP, let us know how you go with the classes. I've heard acupuncture highly recommended, sounds like it's worth trying with so much pain. Is the carpal tunnel likely to go away after bubs is born?
Afm, just waiting to see my obs for my regular appt (& eating a kitkat - that might explain the 15k!!)
Yes, these twinnies have taken all my fat stores and turned them into them hehehehehe .... I still have enough hips to go round though but it has been a surprise as I expected to need a wheelbarrow to get me round in the beginning. I'm having a lovely time before bubs are born it's the first time since leaving school that I have been out of the workforce full time but I have adjusted to the life of leisure rather quickly :smiliedance: and now wonder how I had the time to work! I'm not looking forward to going back to work this time next year but it will be part time hopefully as work/life balance is more important to me now.
15kg is a nice healthy amount, I wouldn't be worried about that as it is prob all baby! Like all of us you worked hard to get preg, enjoy the moment to eat and revel in that baby bump .... soon it will be gone!

 Ladies,
Well I have finally become motivated to re-post in here after my last few attempts failing.
mummyplease - How are you feeling now with the carpel tunnel? did you end up doing acupuncture? How exciting about getting your furniture soon.......im picking mine up this weekend so hopefully will be able to start putting everything together. Also did you manage to get your GD results?
1bella - only 3 kgs and with twinnies! wow thats awesome lol im now officially scared to hop on the scales  last time i was sitting at 10.8 kgs. Also so jealous that you have already started maternity leave......and glad you are enjoying it....i have about 5 weeks to go before i start mine.
AFM - Have been travelling well....this Friday i will be 33 weeks :smiliedance: unfortunately though I have had SPD since 2 weeks ago and have been in excrutiating pain from it. Everytime I move its so painful and have been told to wear a pregnancy support belt which i dont think is helping much.
Saw OB last week and he told me that bubs is fully engaged now and was deep in my pelvis which explains why I have felt pressure down there and heightened pain.
The artist finished painting bubs' room which im excited about and cant wait to put the furniture together and have everything ready!
Have another OB appt next Thursday ....so will have another update then on bubs.

Wow bella, congratulations on the safe but early arrivals of the twins! Do they have names yet? Let us know how they are progressing!
T2SP - thanks for updating the roll call, it certainly makes you realise how quiet it is in here though! Great that you are enjoying your antenatal classes, we start ours next week for 3 weeks so I am really looking forward to them (although DH isn't - I think it will be a real wake up call for him!)
Stayingcalm - am having acupuncture for the carpal tunnel this week so will see how that goes, I also bought a wrist brace which helps a bit at night but is annoying to have on at work. Oh and I have hit 11kgs at 29 wks so I hear you on the weight gain, have pretty much stopped worrying about it as I guess I will hit about 18kgs by the time bub arrives.
Hi to everyone else - wow scary that bubs are already starting to arrive, makes it seem so real!
AFM -apart from the carpal tunnel and a bit of swelling, all going well. Just trying to deal with the ct as it won't really go away til the birth at least. Saw my dr last week and bp is still a bit up and down, he thinks I will probably need to finish work before 35wks but will see how I go I guess. Nursery is nearly finished, just need to put up the decal hopeefully this weekend. I find myself napping in the glider chair quite a lot and it just seems like such a peaceful room :) Started washing baby clothing last week, scary how small the clothes are!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Congratulations Bella on the arrival of yur gorgeous twins, hope you are all thriving.
Take care

Morning Ladies
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
HM - wow, not long now for you, time is flying!
Stayingcalm - I had the acu last Thursday and surprisingly it did help, it took away alot of the real aching pain although my hands are still numb and tingly. I managed to get away without sleeping in the wrist brace for a few nights which was great and I had a much better sleep! Unfortunately my hand is becoming more uncomfortable again so I might see how i go this week and book in for some more next week.
Hi to everyone else, Bella I hope you and the twins are doing really well!
AFM - nothing new to report although I did finish the nursery on the weekend! DH and I (well DH did most of it!) put the tree decal up and it looks really good. We ordered blinds for the room so once they are done we are set! I am totally over work, have had a few issues there lately and with the ct, swelling and tiredness, I have had enough. I think I will see if my Dr will give me a certificate to finish at 33 weeks - at least then I can relax at home and hopefully get more sleep! Is anyone else tossing and turning at night? I often wake up with aching hips at night which is rather painful.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, we are certainly on the home stretch now!
Hi Lovelies hope everyone is doing well and starting to countdown...
I can't believe I now have 6 weeks left, starting to feel a little anxious , but all is well .
Take care and keep cooking those bubbas:hugs:

That is just wonderful, Bella, so glad you are all doing well!
MP, glad the acu helped, sounds like it's worth having regular treatment.
As for me, had some dramas the last couple of weeks - decided to have an amnio as our 32 week scan showed some risk factors for DS had persisted. Thankfully the results came back normal. Now just trying to get things done at work in my last 2 weeks... Then I'll just be waiting for bub to arrive.
Hope everyone is doing well!!

How are you going, mummyplease? Have you stopped work? I have 2 more days of work & am really ready to finish. I feel fine for the first half of the day but then just want to sleep all arvo! Looking forward to sleeping lots and getting the nursery sorted over the next few weeks. C-section booked for 20 July!!

Stayringcalm - I am doing ok thanks! Wish I was finishing work but I still have about 2 weeks to go. Will finish at 34 wks as I am exhausted and still having issues with the CT. Great that you get to finish this week - I hear you about being fine in the morning and then sleepy in the afternoon, I am up at 5.30am every day so I hit a wall about 1pm! Congrats on getting a date for your c-section, it must be exciting to know when bub is due!

Hi ladies,
Sorry to intrude. My beautiful DP is 33 weeks pregnant with our first and we are due on 07/09/2011. I think, at this point, I'm more worried than she is. :)
Wishing you all the very best. <3
