View Full Version : Hi there
Hi there, my name is Tanya and i just turned 26 so i guess im a 20 something mum! Lucas is our first child and we wanted to have children in our 20s and we hope 2 have 2 before we are 30. We just felt we would rather be in our 20s than in our 30s as we feel children are more important to us than anything else and you can always do things like travelling with your children. Out of our friends we are the only couple who are married and now have a baby, i find our friends are more interested in still going out/travelling/careers, i find we have a lot less in common now which is hard but with lucas ive already met some other mums and its good to make that connection where you have more in common. Im a stay at home mum and no plans to return to work as i love being with lucas so much! Its good to find this forum, i feel like there arent many 20 something mums around as people these days tend to have kids later, and i know that even at 26 im the youngest in my mothers group which is just weird! Anyway look forward to chatting with you all.
Hi Tanya,
How are you going? Great to meet you! My name is Kate Im 21 and getting married next weekend. All of our friends are basically doing the same thing as yours so we're sort of isolated as well. We have a beautiful daughter Abigail who is 6 months old today! Time just goes by so fast! We're thinkg of starting to try to conceive #2 but just need to sit down and think everyting through. We Always wanted to start a family yong so we have more time to spend with our kids and have more energy too (not that it feels like it as i'm buggered most of the time) Anyway looking forward to talking to you!

Hi Tanya, I'm 28 so a tiny bit older than you but I can really relate to what you are saying. I have one other friend who is married with a child but all my other friends are still doing the going out/travelling/career thing. They are still lovely and supportive but obviously our lives are very different and I've turned into such a mum - I really enjoy talking about the kids, what time we got them to sleep last night, their milestones and so on! It's interesting that you are the youngest in your mothers group. My other friend who had a baby (who is the same age as me) was the youngest too, but my group has a broader range - the youngest member is 22 and the oldest is 34.
Look forward to chatting more and getting to know you.
By the way, Lucas shares his birthday with me, albeit 28 years apart! He'll have people making comments about American Independence Day and that movie 'Born on the Fourth of July' for the rest of his life, trust me!!
