Hi everyone,
Just wondering what age your child/children were when you first started to potty train them?
Thanks

My daughter was a few days past her 3rd birthday when she finally "got it". I had tried several time since she was just over 2yo, but she just didn't seem to have a clue so after several accidents in a couple of hours I would just put her back in nappies, tell her "great try" and then try again a couple of months later.
When she finally got it, she didn't have an accident for nearly 6 days and has been confidently trained for nearly 18mths now with only 1/2 dozen or so accidents.
My son is 30mths and has taken himself off to the toilet several times already by himself (even to poo - yay!), but really doesn't have the concentration to maintain being in undies all day long yet. I give him 2 hours every night in undies before bedtime and he is learning to tell me when he needs the toilet. It is never guaranteed that he will tell me, but he is making progress.
Both of my kids are still in night nappies and as my daughter is still waking very wet in the mornings I am not going to worry about it yet. The nightime training is all about a chemical switch in the brain which enables the body to concentrate urine enough for the bladder to hold it through the night, so this is obviously not happening yet for my kids. Some kids it doesn't happen for until they are over 7yo, so I will definitely not worry until after then ... in the meantime, nappies are great and I will use dry-nites or something similar if they go to a friends place for the night!
