View Full Version : Bub has arrived
Just wanted to let all you Hubbers know that our little boy arrived on his due date on Sat 2nd Sep at 6:11pm.
Sean Gabriel weighing 3.960kg, arrived via C-section after 17 hours of labour, 6 of which were under epidural.
It is so wonderful to finally meet our little one after all this time. What an amazing feeling. Just got home from the hospital today, so am going to get some more rest now.

Here is our story.....
Little Sean arrived on his due date. The last 2 weeks of pregnancy was tough. Sean managed to bruise a rib so everytime he moved, it took a lot out of me to move. The pain was unbelievable. DH had to help me move around the house, forget going out.
Early Sat morning , 1am, 2nd Sep, woke up with a cramp feeling in my tummy. Woke DH up. Having pain in my tummy from little Sean stretching for the past month or so was a regular thing. But this was a differnt pain. Called the labour suite to inform them. All signs of going into labour. Contractions were still far apart so we stayed home and managed the pain with the TENS machine, panadine, getting on all fours and rocking - just anything to ease the pain. Come 3:30am we called the hospital and told them we were coming in.
Got to the hospital, was escorted to our labour suite, and DH was with me all the way trying to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. Midwife came in to check on us regularly. Oh mom was with us too in case DH needed a breather. But nope, DH stuck with me all the way. At 7nish, Doctor told us I was 4 cm dialated. Come 12noon still 4cm dialated. Did an internal still no change. She suggested C-section. We discussed it and told her we'd like to wait for a few more hours and see how it goes. She asked if I wanted any other form of pain management. Opted for epidural. Got it and then everything from waist down went numb and my water broke, what a mess. But no pain - so good.
I fell off to sleep while the contractions were going on. DH had his chance to rest. Woke at about 3pm, midwife did an internal and still no change so we decide to go with the C-sec, so they called our doc and booked us in for C-sec at 5:30.
I was ill from the epidural (trying to throw up nothing) and had the shivers. They wheeled me into the theater with DH in tow. It was great to have him there just stroking my hair and talking to me while they were working at getting bub out. Heard someone say, "We can see the hair", and 6:11pm Sean arrived. They took him away to clean, weigh etc. and then handed him over to Daddy. We took a couple of photos while they were stitching me up. The most amazing feeling to finally meet our little one. They let us enjoy him for a bit before wheeling me into recovery for 1/2 hr.
Was then taken to my room, and the midwife made sure I was all nice clean and fresh. They brought Sean into the room and the midwife showed DH how to bath him then I got to breastfeed him and DHand I was then able to just sit there and enjoy our son together.
An amazing day. DHis a natural father... it was so amazing to watch him with our son. I must add that Cabrini team at the labour ward is an excellent bunch. They made my birthing experience and stay at the hospital a memorable one. The staff did as much as possible to make me as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
