so so so scarey, sad and devastating!!!
we are in brissy but northern and don't think we will get effected where we are....still so hard to see and know it is happening a few suburbs away :(
I'm in Beenleigh so very safe here, I have friends who've needed to evacuate their homes, been cut off and still trying to get in touch with family at Albany Creek (I know they're OK but would feel better if they'd tell us that). Parents luckily got out of the city today.
Just so heartbreaking and surreal.

Could the OP please add that the video may be distressing to some people.
I broke down watching it, especially where the car is rammed under the bridge. There may have been people in it.
The picture of the lady in the kayak with the joey towing along behind was incredible, but also sad to think that its mother may well have drowned. And the one where the teddy is foating in the water. I feel so sorry for the poor child that it belongs too, after having their life turned upside down, their teddy may have been a big comfort.
All of us in Brisbane & Queensland (well most of us) are in tears on and off at the moment too, partly due to the constant updates and images on the news and mainly because of what's happening to our city, our suburbs, our state and the people we love here.
The lady in the kayak risked her life saving that Joey. The spirit of the people up here is amazing even though the worst is yet to come.
Have edited the OP and put a warning up that it may be distressing.
ETA: Just found out a dear friend's house is totally submerged. No insurance.

Wow...
This has me in tears. Scary to see places that I know well in this state... We are so lucky that our area has not been affected to this extent. For this I am very grateful.
Pinky-I am so sorry to hear about your friends house. So devastating the amount of people who have lost so much.
Hard to believe that 75% of QLD has been affected.
Bump. Please share the video around as well as the other donation plea videos.
The more donations, the better.
My aunty and uncle in NSW and other relatives in SA have seen it and have donated $250 between them :)

I have a video that is a song written by a Bundaberg singer. It was suppose to be recorded last week at the Sunshine Coast BUT Bundaberg went under for the second time and he was unable to get there :( ....Apparently it will be out next week via itunes and stuff to purchase and he is putting all proceeds back into the Bundaberg community.
Bundy is close to my heart, i lived there for 20 years.

Now of course i am right near Brissie and although i cant offer financial support, me, hubby and kids are heading over to the mainland Sunday to help with the clean up.
Pinkzy check HERE (http://www.communityservices.qld.gov.au/community/community-recovery/support-assistance/support-assistance.html) your friend can get a few different types of assistance.
Also centrelink has assistance of $1000 per adult and $400 per child for those in flood affected areas (if you meet certain criteria, which your friend would indeed fit into) the link to that is HERE (http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/emergency/qld_flooding_dec10_agdrp.htm) and HERE (http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/emergency/severe_weather_dec10_dirs.htm)
Thanks JAW.
More friends since I posted this have been affected. Will be helping them out on Sunday I hope.
