View Full Version : TTC and night out??
Ok so were TTC which you probably know and were going out to bbq with friends on sat night ( which happens to be O day i think).
My question is "Is it ok to drink even though were TTC?"
Any advice/opinions welcomed!
Thanks!:hugs:
I think the official answer is no, but don't give yourself a hard time if you do have a few drinks. I've read so much stuff on this, and most of the advice says that women should just stop drinking once they know they are pregnant and anything before that, shouldn't really be a concern. I've got a friend who had a huge night and even threw up from too much alcohol, not realising she was p/g at the time. Her doctor said that she shouldn't worry about it at all - but of course, no drinking after finding out you are pregnant.
Great Thanks Chicken! Your always there with great advice :hugs:
Im not going to wipe myself out or anything silly like that. Will probably just have a few champagnes. Technically I wont be preg yet anyway unless I o'd early. I will limit myself though.
Thanks again!

Heh the official answer would be no, but how many babies have been concieved while the mummy to be was blasted? :D I wouldnt get smashed but a few drinks shouldnt hurt..
*this post in no way condones getting smashed and pregnant lol*
Hi Girls
I dont mean to take over your thread Bailey's Mummy but I was hoping to add the question of whether it is ok for the boys to drink. It is my DH's mates 30th bday this weekend and I am sure he is going to be pretty wasted. Unfortunately it also falls on my O days so is this going to crush my chances at becoming pg this month? I wont be drinking

 Icky - I think the only problem is if he can't "get it up" when he's wasted! That will definitely crush your chances this month - no BD! But seriously, I don't think one drinking session would interfere with sperm (anyone who is an expert on this is welcome to disagree) I have heard lots of stories of men's sperm count improving when they've given up, or drastically cut down, alcohol though. So it shouldn't change your chances one month to the next, but if your DH is a heavy drinker and you are having trouble conceiving, then it is something to think about working on. Does that make sense? Best of luck :fingerscrossed:
Bailey's Mummy, I am with the others on your question, a couple of drinks has gotta be fine on O day, there's no developing embryo/foetus yet to affect, and I doubt it would affect the egg, because the egg has been living inside your ovaries your whole life, so unless you'd never had a drink before in your life, it wouldn't do anything. Just my uneducated guess though. Good luck! :fingerscrossed:
 thanks Shelle65. DH rarely drinks but on the odd occasion (very odd) he tends to get pretty happy (Never so much that BD is out of the question though  ).
Looks like you can have a couple of drinks & a productive weekend of BDing too Baileys Mummy :fingerscrossed: . Have fun :D

I say go for it!!
Of course, it depends on where you are in your cycle as to how I would personally go about it. If you are no-where near ovulating, then go for your life! If you are in your 2ww, then go easy.
I miss my glass of wine here & there, so live it up while you can, I say!
Thanks Ladies! Appreciate your advice, sadly my friend who is having the night is really unwell so it will be a quiet night at home for us.
** Get well soon Di :hugs: **
But I appreciate your advice and at least I know i could if I wanted too. Im not a big drinker anyway really.
Thanks again!:p
