I've been seriously thinking about donating for a long time now but I have PCOS. Will this stop me from donating? I am currently pregnant with number 2.

Thats wonderful that your considering donating. It takes a real agnel to do that.. I hope I will be able to find that angel when/if I need her.
Another kind soul!!
PCOS will not stop you from being a donor - it just means that you will be monitored more closely to make sure that you dont overstimulate.
I have read that ladies with PCOS are almost "perfect" for IVF, as they tend to produce good amounts of eggs in a cycle.
You will need to wait though until you have had 2-3 regular periods after you give birth, as well as have fiinished breastfeeding.

Hi ya
I have PCOS and am about to do my first donation. Like Roxy said the doctors told me they monitor you more closely and have a lower dose of meds etc.
Good luck

Hey Girls
I think it also depends on whether you actually have the more severe Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome or just polycystic ovaries. Over-stimming can be quite nasty for some women who are guaranteed to produce huge numbers of eggs and I know a few PCOS girls who have been turned away, or who have donated and THEN been turned away due to issues with hyper-stimming.
Talk about it with the Dr if you have any concerns and ask exactly what your diagnosis is so you are better aware of any issues.

I'd definitely see an IVF Dr, and ask them. Or call your Donor Co Ordinator Nurse at you nearest IVF Clinic.
They can put you in touch with all the info you need.
Good luck, and please keep us posted :yelclap:

Thanks everyone for your quick responses. I have had to take Clomid on many cycles to achieve my pregnancies and therefore know that I don't have any big issues with hyper-stimulation etc. I will wait until things settle down after the impending birth and then check out what steps I need to take!
