I don't have any children (work in child care) and hv just completed m diploa a whle bck. i now run the babies room and am looking at applying to do bachelor of teaching.

It is two subjects a semester via correspondence.... do you think this would be too tough to work around full time work?

Oooh exciting! :smiliedance:Yay to you. Two sounds okay, but you may find it a little tiring (DH took two night classes last semester while working fulltime, and has decided from now on to stick to one).

Two is ok but definitely not any more than that.
When I worked full time I found one suited me best, but it took forever doing that so I did two but there's no way I could have devoted enough time and energy to more than that, particulary around exam time.
Good luck!

Depends how organised and self-disaplined you are. I am a full time mum, and only doing two subjects...although I am an on campus student, so our situations aren't quite the same. I find that I have to try and get the majority of my study done of a night once DF gets home. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Before I went on maternity leave I was being mum to 2, working 4 days per week, and doing one uni unit by correspondence.

Honestly, I'd stick to one subject only, unless you have a VERY supportive partner, and someone to do your housework.

Now I am at home on maternity leave, and being mum to 3, and I find 1 subject is more than enough.

Great thread!!!!! really interesting to hear what other people have experiences!!! I am thinking of going back to study part time when bubs is around 1. I will also be working fulltime so maybe 1 subject a semester might be the best alternative...

I have only ever done one at a time and find that it keeps me motivated without feeling snowed under.

And I get to have a life as well and I KNOW I will pass.

So one is enough for me.

although I deferred when I got pregnant because my brain disappeared and one became too much!!

I don't think I could ever do two. Just not disciplined enough. I'm a lazy scraper-through-er as it is.

Thankyou for your responses.... even though most of you are answering a resounding 1 subject.... you are also all mums...

I'm a tad nervous now I must say-

As this is a correspondence course, they set the 2 subjects a semester, i don't know if they'd let me drop one.. i'll just try and count on the fact i dont have children to distract me of a night time! eek!

I am ttc #1 so no bubs yet but from my experience you should be fine with two subjects - but you need to stay positive thats all. I have been working full time and studying at uni (on campus) 2 subjects per semester. I did do 3 last semester and I would not recommend that to anyone - I was an absolute wreck around assessment time and a nightmare to live with  but I passed all subjects in the end with pretty good grades. You need to have really good time management skills!! Good luck :)
