View Full Version : Catch-up Time!!!

Ok since the last Meet up fell through, maybe its time to start organising another one? Before school starts again.

I think if we do a 'central' meet up would be nice - near the CBD that way we can meet people from all around.

I'd love to hear some suggestions for When and Where - but the final decision will be posted somewhere else, or PM'd to everyone, just for privacy sake
So i hope we get a few responses, it'd be lovely to see older members again, and to meet some of the newer members :highfive:

I have no life so basically any day for the next few weeks suits me

Ok cool. As far as i know this thread is being sent to hopefully a few adelaide bubhubers on facebook ( i sent it to a few friends and asked them to pass it forward :p).

There are a few really nice parks around north adelaide and the surrounding suburbs. Most of which are fenced in (a big plus), but if we can agree on a date then i'd keep the time and place off the public forum b/c there is always the risk that scary people read these forums ;)

I'm free anytime as well :hyper:

The next week or fortnight would be nice though i think. especially since school starts next week :freakingout:

I think the fenced park is an excellent idea

i know the undies look awesome on me ;):p but when i wear them no one shows up to appreciate the view

How many people could do this weekend? Saturday or Sunday maybe?
or should we do two meets - one for working mums and one for sahm's? ;)

MothersMilk
26-01-2011, 21:16
I'd rather not this weekend as the weather is 36 on Sat and 41  on Sun. A bit too high for an outdoor thing (or is it just me).

 well that'll teach me to offer a suggestion without checking the temperatures first.

(although maybe we could do a pool thing? :p the aquatic centres nice and central! or Ikea - mm mm, blissfully air-conditioned Ikea )

Nah this weekend is bad cause school goes back next week.

The following weekend suits me fine. I have both kids then as well.

5th or 6th Feb. If its to hot outside maybe do it inside?

MothersMilk
27-01-2011, 09:23
Next weekend would great for me (Sat is better but Sunday is okay too). Indoors if it is a really hot day would be good - love the idea of swimming but kinda hard for me as i'll have my 2 year old and 9 month to look after, not sure i could organise that with water (gosh i'm difficult aren't i :o sorry) Ikea would be good or the original park idea if it is a nice day. :D

Do we maybe want to do over a time period? maybe if we did from 11-3 (just suggestion - real times will be pm'd. trying to be internet safe ;) hehe). I'm happy to be the person to sit there for a few hours in case some people can only make it for a certain period of time.

And if its anything like this weekend then i really like the idea of the aquatic centre :p

Adults $ 7.10 Children under 3 Free Aged / Permanent Disability & Children* $ 5.40 Health Care Card Holders & F/Time Tertiary Student $ 6.00Spectators must pay normal entry fee.

i actually thought that parents who weren't going swimming didn't have to pay :( at least that's what happens when swimming lessons are on.

But hopefully that's an ok cost for people?
Otherwise the playground outside the aquatic centre is actually really nice and there's a lot of shade next to it :goodvibes:

AmberMama
28-01-2011, 22:20
That cost is fine with me, not going to speak for others though! I'm curious as to what the aquatic centre is like with a little one as I don't think I've been there since I was about 10, lol.

Aquatic Centre Saturday? I won't have DS :(

I don't think it's going to be sweltering hot this weekend. Only during the week while I'm stuck in this boiling office with no airco and can't get to the beach :freakingout::headdesk:

MothersMilk
02-02-2011, 11:20
The weather is mid 20's (and possible rain) so not sure what everyone wants to do? or if anyone is still interested?
I'm not too fussed but i'd like to know soon so that i can make other plans if this meet is not happening :o

Gandalf
02-02-2011, 14:00
I'm definitely still in  but we can just do the park outside the aquatic centre instead? its a fun playground? if its not going to be so hot then its ok if the kids run around during the middle of the day :goodvibes:

MothersMilk
02-02-2011, 14:42
I'm fine to do the park instead, it is fenced off right? (DD1 is a runner ;))

Gandalf

 DEFINITELY!!!
its not shaded - but there are a few shaded areas and a few trees etc within the fenced in area

If we agree to meet up under the little roof area roughly in the middle? I will be the young person who will try and find my bubhub ribbon so that people aren't wandering around looking lost ;)

MothersMilk
02-02-2011, 15:14
Sounds good.
Should we wait to see who else is coming then send out PM's with the time? I am flexible with times so am happy to work around others.
No doubt i will be wandering around like a lost duck but i should be easy to spot as i'll have a baby in a mei tai and a 2 year old with me.

And Mother'smilk, i'm So sorry we missed you, i have no idea how that happened. i knew we were running a few min late (baby decided to faceplant in water as we were leaving the house :freakingout:) but i didn't think we were that late  but we'll definitely try and catch up at some stage? :fingerscrossed:

I'm thinking we might do another one end of feb? Let me know if there's any interest for end of feb (i go back to uni in march and don't know if i'll have the time or energy to organise meets :p so i'll try once more, since i actually did get to meet someone today :p and then get someone else to help/do any future ones :cheerleader2:).

:D hope you're all doing well!!!

MothersMilk
06-02-2011, 08:08
Don't apologise, it was my fault. I arrived too early and it was a bit of a disaster. :freakingout: I was getting very stressed out with chasing DD1 while carrying a heavy baby and bag, then DD threw a massive tantrum and so i went stuff it and left - i thought it was about 20 past but i could easy be wrong. :o

I would be interested in trying again.

Anyone want to offer up date & location suggestions??
I'd suggest Gloria Jeans @ Harbourtown (it has a big playground) around the end of Feb (a Saturday morning maybe?)

I'm free most weekends. Although I'd prefer one where I've only got the middle child :P (so this one, or the one two weeks later) :-)

I'm in! And I'll make amber mama drive me *evil grin*

JustShiney
01-02-2012, 13:05
Ok so...

Gandalf - that means we're looking at the 18th or 19th (is that right?)
Spidey - the Gloria Jeans has seating out in the fresh air and is adjacent to the loos ;)
Arusaamatus - newbies are always very welcome! We'd love to meet you!
Lil bugs - do you have any particular times or dates to work around?

Now, Harbourtown is pretty busy on the weekends of course, so i'd suggest our best bet of getting enough seating together would be to meet for breakfast or early brunch on the Sunday (?)
So would Sunday 19th Feb @ about 9:30ish suit most people??

No kids as yet, but I'm 9 weeks and I guess a little over enthusiastic about finding other mums :D nice to find an Adelaide meet up group - I don't know many mums here, still fairly new to Australia so hopefully I'll be able to come to a catch up at some point if that's ok? :)

Perhaps have it on a saturday next time. Would anyone prefer a weekday meetup at some stage in the future?

I'm not sure I can make monthly meets but I'm a shift worker lol

Maybe you could alternate weekend/weekdays to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to come. (since there are a few members who work full time and others, like myself...who seem to be getting lots of Saturday/Sunday work :S lol)

I'd be happy for an optional monthly meet-up, with a whoever can make it comes vibe. Not fussed what day it is as I'm in Adelaide on different days. Possibly it is good to have different days in rotation so that the same ppl don't miss out?

A monthly meet up sounds great to me. I am free during the week mostly but can also do weekends but I agree that changing the day around is a good idea to allow as many people to come.
Maybe we can meet in a playground one time? I guess it would be good to let the kids have a bit of a run around.
