My DD2 was born 4 weeks early and is currently 5 weeks old. She is really windy and grunts and groans going red in the face trying to get it out. So yesterday I brought some Infants friend to give to her and I'm just wondering do I go with the up to 1 month dose or the 1 month-3month dose? She weighed 4110g on thursday if that helps.
Its probably a stupid question, I guess someone would have told me if I needed to take those 4 weeks into account but I thought I would check.
Thanks :)

Does it say somewhere on the packaging how much per kilo?

No it doesn't unfortunatly, its just 5 drops for up to 1 month and 10-20 drops for 1-3 months.

Perhaps ring 13 health to ask.

I correct my childrens age but they are 11 and 5 weeks prem.

I'd try the up to one month dose as a starting point and see how you go. After all she's one week corrected age and her weight is still much the same as a newborn weight born at term

Thanks, I'll go with the 5 drops :)

How did you go?

Given her weight I would have been more inclined to give between the two doses, so about 8 drops.

As for other medications I always go by weight rather than age.

My neo natel pead said always go with the corrected age unless the meds are weight based

Actual age unless weight based.

Thanks everyone, I've been using the 5 drops and it seems to help. Since its not an actual medication she needs I figure it can't hurt to give her less anyway.

Yes, slim chance she would OD. If what you've given doesn't work, I'd give a bit more.
