I am now 36wks and let alone getting leg cramps and very bad lower back ache, i get no sleep.. if i'm lucky i get about 4 hours a night and it is just running me into the ground.. has anyone got any ideas for getting a good night sleep? Or just put up with it cause it isn't going to get any better

hello
I am also 36 weeks tomorrow and I have not been sleeping well either...what I find helpful is having a bath just before you go to bed and only get into bed when you are really really tired....try chamomile tea also.......I sometimes just get up and watch TV for a few hours then go back to bed again (no point in tossing and waking up my poor hubby who has to work).....
Its our bodies getting us ready for getting up to feed our bubbas...
good luck

Well im only 32 weeks but understand how you feel. It sucks :banghead: Im so uncomfortable at night its not funny so i just try to go to bed when im reallllllly tired. I try staying on the computer or watching tv or doing something that makes me tired. Read a book or something until your about to pass out? Hopefully that works it works a little with me  Hope you get some rest soon!

This may not be what you want to hear but this happened with my last who is now 5mths. At 36weeks I was only getting about an hour a night, with 3 other kids to chase after i was as you can imagine a walking zombie. My OB gave me sleeping tablets which did absolutly nothing. It got to the point that i could not stop crying and was getting depressed so my OB induced me at 38 weeks.
Hope you dont have the same drama I did. I was told to try Rassberry leaf tea, Camomile Baths, Lavender insence. Basically anything natural to relax me.:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:;)
Unfortunately, it doesn't get better. I think it is our body's way of preparing us for what is to come, night feedings etc with bub.
I was the same with both pregnancies, very bad with the 2nd due to severe pelvic seperation. It will get better in about 6 months...lol.
Not what you want to hear but sorry, it's true.
Have lots and lots of pillows supporting your back, bump, head, neck shoulders, kick DP out of bed if you need more room:p

Abs - I have experienced the same with this pregnancy and I'm currently in the last legs of it thank goodness. I have experienced pain and numbness in my legs at night and constantly toss and turn throughout the night hurling a mountain of pillows around the bed with me. I have just purchased one of those foam mattress support underlays - the ones with bumps all over it. It was recommended to me by my midwife who has a bad back and it is great. It helps distribute your weight evenly and adds extra comfort and cushioning. We have a good King Koil mattress on our bed and I had no problems before the later stages of pregnancy but this underlay has definitely helped me get a better nights sleep in terms of comfort and pain relief
I got mine from K-mart. They have them in single, double and queensize.
