Hi ladies
Just wondering where all of the May mums are located and what hospital you plan on delivering at?
I'm located in Sydney and have just booked into North Shore Private... is anyone else going there?

Hi! I am in maitland, and will be delivering at Newcastle Private, then transferring to Maitland Private. For some silly reason they built a great new private hospital in Maitland with delivery suites, but they don't deliver there! (insurance or something - you get a different story depending on who you ask) I have heard mixed things about Maitland Public - some people have great experiences, others not so great - so decided not to take my chances. I delivered at Newcastle private last time & it was EXCELLENT, so I figured why mess with a good thing!

Well I am on the Gold Coast and I live in the street next to the hospital so I will be going there. My OB is there as well so that's even better and I have found out that he lives in our area too so that's even more comforting.
It's called Pindara Private and it has a nice maternity ward where partners are allowed to stay as well which is nice. I am looking forward to it!! Hehe, that's funny. looking forward to going to hospital never heard of that before

I am in SE melbourne, Cranbourne to be exact and it looks like i will be going to Dandenong Hospital as Casey hospital in Berwick don't offer you an Epidural unless its an emergency......i think the level of pain would class as one.........I just want to have the option there if i need it.

You have to pay your hospital excess at Newcastle private, but because I have beena memeber for years ours is down to $100. (we have is set at $800 to get lower premiums, but their loyalty program thingy brings it down). I had DD there last year & ended up staying 7nights as she was nearly 4 weeks early. We seent he final bill was around $1300? (hard to remember now) but we only paid $100 - and she was in the special care nursery.
I didn't realise there are so many may mummies from the Newcastle area!! Maybe some of us might see each other

Tan we are the same. Harriet was also 4wks early and in the special care nursery for the first 4nights - all up we were there for 6nights. The only out of expense we had was our $300 excess from Medibank Private. Sooooooo worth paying that. Great food (this time I know to order large servings so DH will get fed as well ), I found the nurses/midwives excellent and free local phone calls - great for when you are bored. We didn't even have to pay for Harriet's paediatrician bills - I was really impressed.

I learned that one pretty fast too! It was the public holidays over Easter that i was in, and the canteen wasn't even open, so i ordered up big so he could eat without having to duck out to the shops & pay another $3 for parking!!

I'm in the 3977 postcode. and I think I'll go to Warragul Hospital if I don't get to have the home water birth I am dreaming of at the moment. With my 1st I went to Dandenong Hospital. I must say the after birthc care there and the home visits from the midwife team was really good, but I am looking for better labour care and believe that I will get it at Warragul. I am going to go there for a tour in a few weeks so hopefully it is all that it is cracked up to be.

Hello,
I'm in Melbourne (Carrum Downs) and don't know exactly where my 3rd baby will be born. I'm thinking probably a homebirth, if I can't find a really good hospital (that offers midwifery care and water birth). It will be my second VBAC. I had my first VBAC in Sydney at the birth centre at the RPA, where I had a water birth. In Melbourne, the health care system sucks, so I pretty much HAVE to have a home birth if I want the best care.

Hi all, Im in the north west of WA - but we'll be coming home in February and plan on havin bubs at the Peel hospital in Mandurah (live near Rockingham). I know, Rockingham is closer, but the Peel hospital is so much prettier! Mind u - I may wish I chose the one 5 minutes away when it gets closer...
