Just wondering what age you moved your child/ren from a cot to a bed?
My mum was saying today that my sister & I were both in a bed before we turned 2, but I've got a friend who has an almost 3 y/o that's still in her cot.
So just curious as to what's the 'norm' (if there is such a thing  )

My children are both still in cots.

My son who is one on Monday will obviously be in his for a while.

My daughter is 2.5 and showing no signs whatsoever of being ready to shift to a bed.

I used to stress about it a bit but now I don't. Her cot is huge and she loves it and is happy in it, so as long as that remains the case she can stay there! :D

But we co-slept, the cot was barely used lol

Ngala recommends leaving them in there til 2.5

My son is still in his cot, definately not ready to move

My DD1 was in her cot from day 1 and in a toddler bed from 17 months and then a single bed from 2.5 years :)

2.5ish... for DS1... we had both set up, and let him choose where he would sleep, so he did it in his own time.

DS2 is 18mnths, and not a chance he is going into a bed... he will most likely be around the same age.

As far as I think... when they start being able to climb out is when I would start to think about a bed. :)

Umm I think they said that unless you have a reason to i.e. child climbing out, needing the cot for another bub, there is no reason to move them

They said its best to leave it til 2.5 when they are able to be reasoned with better, and are better able to understand that they need to stay in their bed all night. The nurse said they have A LOT of people coming to them with problems because they moved them too early. She said that we definately shouldnt take my DS out because he is having some issues staying asleep, and he would just get out of bed all the time.

2.5 years because he broke the side off his cot :s lol ...... (Incredible hulk kid ??? Hehe)
then he slept on his cot mattress in the floor for 2 months as we had to go out and buy a bed , by the time the store got the bed in that we wanted(took 3 weeks to arrive) we where soon moving house so i decided not to set it up at the old house .
Last month when ds was 2 yrs8months he started sleeping in his new "big bed " in his new room , and in his words " mummy i berrrry luv my new room !!!"

Thanks for that Pregnor - makes sense.

My DD would be up like a jack-in-the-box every three minutes so she will be in her cot until she's 11

We took the side rail off DD's cot at around 20 months, just before DS was born. Then moved her into a big bed at around 2 years. All kids are different though, so I think u are the best judge of when ur own little one is ready.

My DD loved that she could get herself up in the morning, whereas I think some kids feel more secure sleeping more confined (ie. With 4 cot sides around them).
